Airlines are the only business I can think of where the production costs have gone up yet the price of the product has remained the same.

For all you jerks who think Capt. Taylor is a hero here's what I wish for you:

You all marry a hot, sexy F/A who likes to socialize on her layovers. Then you can wonder what low life pilot is trying to scam his way into her panties. Because, face it, BOYS...there are a whole bunch of guys out on the line who are better looking, more athletic and better in the sack than YOU are.

Then, of course, there are the nimrods who will tell her, "I bet you're a FREAK in the bed, Honey."

Perhaps you can sleep well at night knowing the JTs in the world are working overtime to bed your sweetheart.

Wow......

Anybody else noticing that about 90% of the guys who wanted the retirment age changed have some kind of weird issue like this?

A: computers. Cell phones. TVs. All better and much cheaper now.
Said the devil's advocate.

I would further counter with movie tickets, pro sports events, rock concerts and a host of other "discretionary" expenses (just like airfares, donchaknow ) that have more than kept up with inflation.

While it hasn't gone up as fast as inflation, the total cost of the product has indeed gone up. Remember that "the product," back in the day, included being able to talk to a live human for your ticketing needs, checked bags, hot food, pillows and blankets, and so on. All of that is charged separately now (if available at all).

So yeah, the product is similarly priced today, but only because the definition of "the product" has changed significantly.
