FLEET UPDATE: Years First Two New Aircraft Added to Fleet Posted on Mon, 01/12/04 00:00
Southwest has taken delivery of N449WN and N450WN–our first two new Boeing 737-700s of the year. These additions to our fleet begin a busy year of deliveries, with a total of 47 planned during the next 12 months. These deliveries, with 17 planned 737-200 retirements–including five this month–will result in a net addition of 30 aircraft during 2004. With this pair of new aircraft, our fleet stands at 389: 22 737-200s, 194 -300s, 25 -500s, and 148 -700s.
For the remainder of the year, we have 45 deliveries planned, which will bring our fleet to 417 at yearend. The busiest month for new aircraft additions will be June, with nine scheduled deliveries. We have six deliveries scheduled for both April and August, with five planned for November. Looking ahead to 2005, we have 34 planned deliveries and five projected retirements.
