13 new hires started today. Seniority number 4683 is now the caboose. It will be interesting to see if this will indeed be the last class for a couple of months.

I checked the training letter (each aircraft) and there is no listing for them yet, so I don't know which seats they got.

Welcome aboard!

Stop giving away the company store FJ, Geez.....;)

Seriously--welcome aboard guys. You are going to love it. Also hear we got another flying attorney on the property. What is it about pilots and law school?

Yep... my buddy is a Civ in the class (ex IDE) and they all got the panel. I'm in the class of last week and we all got the panel as well except for 2 who opted for SFS.

They've told us this will be it until the MOAB is done, but that they are still interviewing to build a pool of candidates to fill the 70 or so per month that they will try to bring on thereafter. Also said was that the first 2-3 months worth of classes will be F/O seats in both NB and WB.

This is getting better by the day! Drinking the Purple Aid and lovin it!!!

There is at least one more too. A friend of mine from ASA started today. Congrats to all!

Any mil guys??? I got a buddy who got called by KD last week. His interview date is 22 Feb. Looks like he'll be in the pool!

It will have to be open for 28 days, so even if it comes out today it won't close until the end of Feb. I'm guessing it will come out today or tomorrow so that it can close in Feb. Just a guess.

How long after the MOAB is complete until new hire training can start again? I've heard April, but if this bid closes in late Feb is it possible training could start again in March? I know it's just speculation until the phone calls go out, but any hints given to the guys/gals in the classes that have started the past two weeks?

Heard today something about a 2 yr "seat freeze" for current S/Os. Anyone else hear that? Does that mean we can bid but won't be awarded training until the MOAB is done and all of the new hires are trained up as F/Os? Not too bad with the passover pay, but this could play big on whether guys bid narrow body or widebody right seats.

Bid out of the back of the Boeing now or risk being stuck for the next 2 years. I think the seat lock will be for new hires. If you can get out on this bid you will most likely train in seniority order, except for the new hires they inject as they go.

Just my thoughts, but I wouldn't hang around in the back unless you really want to stay there for the next couple of years.

I personally think all this talk is just to try to force people already on the property to move along so that the new hires can go to the back of the Boeing where they really want them to go anyway. So they put all of this out about seat locks and 2 year training letters so the folks who have been sitting on the fence about upgrading will finally decide to do it.

I also don't think it will change anything. We'll know in a few weeks.

It sounds like we are not going to know for sure if there will be any passover pay before the bid. This is the confusing part about the recent emails. Anybody know the deal on passover pay w/the MOAB?

My take on it is that if you bid a seat position and are waiting to go to training (example 11F MEM), if the company decides to put newhires in that seat and they activate before you, you get passover pay. This only applies to each respective seat. There was some confusion over newhires being put directly into a FO seat and passover pay with more senior SO's. Example, if you were hired as a 72 SO and they put a newhire into the 72 FO seat and you don't have an award for the 72 FO, you do not get passover.

According to the company and the union, you must have a bid award for a particular seat and if the company trains and activates someone junior to you, then you are eligible for passover.

Bid what you want to fly.

The only confusing part to me is if a new hire constitutes a subsequent posting (bid). It has been stated by others on the board that new hires don't constitute a subsequent posting (bid). If that is true, there won't be passover for you even if you are waiting for training and a new hire goes straight into the seat.

In order to get passover you have to have bid and held the seat and a crewmember junior to you activates in that seat who held it on the same or subsequent posting (bid). Has to be same seat and same domicile. If the new hires don't count, then you would only get passover pay if they decide to train out of seniority order, like they did after the last MOAB.

For the Bus anyway, they trained Boeing S/Os (most of whom were junior to) before the Boeing FOs because they were shorter in the Boeing right seat. Those Boeing FOs were eligible for passover.

It will be interesting to see how this bid turns out.

When did the word come out that fedex will stop hiring for a while? All I've been hearing from the ACP's is 70 a month thoughout 06.

Rumor has it that they are stopping classes until the bid is closed so that the company has flexibility to put newhires where they need them. Sounds like they will continue to interview and use a pool.
