@Neal , my avionics shop agreed with CubCrafters that installing the TX interlock per the CC procedure was advisable IN ADDITION TO flipping the dip switch. I think @Cactus Charlie can better explain the technical reasons than me. It's not a complicated install and my comms are working great now.
 
If you do the hardwire mod I would think the dipswitch should be reverted unless you don't want to listen to the other radio when transmitting? Personal preference I suppose, just making sure I understand it correctly.
 
I think that's correct. I personally don't want to listen to the other COM when I'm transmitting, so I've kept the dip switched flipped.

I doubt you would hear anything even if the DIP switch were not flipped unless both radios were on the same frequency. That's speculation though as I don't know what attenuation level is activated by TX INHIBIT or at what stage in the receiver the attenuation is applied.

It would be a simple test though.
