UAL -- you got it right. Anyone who starts on 12/20 can jumpseat home if class is out on Wednesday the 22nd or Thursday the 23rd. Your family jump privileges don’t kick in until the 15/16 day point. Obviously commuting on the 23rd and then returning to PHX on the 26th to start class again on the 27th will be very tough. Mainline AW and on the Express, you can sit up front, but with everyone else you’ll be hoping for a seat in the back. Tough at holiday time. At the Express, Mesa dudes have priority over you for the jump, so if your market has 75% Express and 25% Mainline, might be harder. Expect that line pilots will be traveling up front more because more seats are filled in back. To actually see the AW loads (to plan commuting on AW/Express), you’ll need access to AWA Compass (internal company web site) which requires your employee payroll number. Different from the P # you will be assigned. You guys will have to get with payroll on day one to get that number if they have it – min manning at holiday time? For the rest of us, you didn’t get your payroll number until you got your first 2 week paycheck (employee number on the pay statement). If you don’t get access to Compass in time, you have to depend on the 1800 number, another airline’s list number, on another AWA member’s Compass access. Welcome aboard.
No words from the training center this week on merger issues. Relax and know there is nothing you can do. Jet Monkey is a voice of reason among new FOs on this board and he's got a pretty good take on it. TWADude is also a steady contributor of fairness and equity on the hangar and he also is one to look to for "balanced" info on the merger. I’m not a regular cruiser of the ALPA web site, but as you can image, lots of “emotion” with respects to Staple/Fair Integration – out of your hands (mine too!) J
