wanttofly said:As far as union due's, I have already paid for about 5 times my yearly union dues this year because of our union. Give you an example: Didn't get home on last day, unrealisticly scheduled - 2 extended days, stayed on the clock, collected 16 hours of overtime - equals about 2 extended days...and for the cherry on top, my first day back they shouldn't have started me until 12pm because that is what time I got home on my extended day, they started me at 6am, grivance and will get 1 extended day. Lets recap, 5 extended days for getting me home 12 hours late equals over $2500. My union dues for the year are approx $1152, becuse of the union I am up $1350 for this year alone. I don't have the numbers infront of me, but last year because of class action grievances I have paid for my dues for about the next 5 years. Rhetorical question now, do you think that having a union and paying union dues are worth it?
I really don't like getting into these retarted arguments on FI, but I have to say that this is insane. How many years can something like this last? The BIG MAN already lost a ton of money on this company last year, and I assume that this year will not be much different. Now, don't give me the Flight Safety excuse. I'm sure that he would much rather be making a profit at both companies. At some point the amount of new clients coming on board will level off (if they have not already) and the management fees will have to go through the roof to cover the costs. Some folks WILL go back to charter in the long term, IMO. This does not sound like a receipe for future profits.
I am just a moronic turboprop pilot, so take from this what you paid for it.
