As far as union due's, I have already paid for about 5 times my yearly union dues this year because of our union. Give you an example: Didn't get home on last day, unrealisticly scheduled - 2 extended days, stayed on the clock, collected 16 hours of overtime - equals about 2 extended days...and for the cherry on top, my first day back they shouldn't have started me until 12pm because that is what time I got home on my extended day, they started me at 6am, grivance and will get 1 extended day. Lets recap, 5 extended days for getting me home 12 hours late equals over $2500. My union dues for the year are approx $1152, becuse of the union I am up $1350 for this year alone. I don't have the numbers infront of me, but last year because of class action grievances I have paid for my dues for about the next 5 years. Rhetorical question now, do you think that having a union and paying union dues are worth it?

I really don't like getting into these retarted arguments on FI, but I have to say that this is insane. How many years can something like this last? The BIG MAN already lost a ton of money on this company last year, and I assume that this year will not be much different. Now, don't give me the Flight Safety excuse. I'm sure that he would much rather be making a profit at both companies. At some point the amount of new clients coming on board will level off (if they have not already) and the management fees will have to go through the roof to cover the costs. Some folks WILL go back to charter in the long term, IMO. This does not sound like a receipe for future profits.

I am just a moronic turboprop pilot, so take from this what you paid for it.

Nope. Gunfyter knows what he's talking about. Talked to multiple CS guys on the road who has said it's fairly common for the company to call them at the hotel after ten hours and cut into their pre-assigned rest. If it was 1 or 2 guys maybe I'd call b.s. but I've heard it from more than 10. You guys should join 1108 that alone right there is worth the 1.8% wage assessment.

Umm, that is legal rest, is it not? Schedules change in this crazy business. Imagine that, a share owner wants to fly on their schedule, the nerve............

It's not legal rest. If you are briefed for fourteen hours of defined rest and you are contacted after ten in the middle of your rest that is broken rest. Illegal per 91K. Rest has been violated. So see you guys are running some shady ops over there.

I have to mention this one where the Company broke the rules and becasue of our Union this one pilot made out great.

Long story short.....Company could not get a guy home from the East coast to the West Coast in 14 hours......This pilot stayed on duty the entire time until they got him back to his West Coast HBA. 94 quaters (23.5 hours)in hourly OT at 7 year pay plus the 2 extended days for not being realistically scheduled......

I don't think he minds paying his Union dues each month.....

And stories like this are plentiful....maybe not to that extent but SU has made it such that if the Company cannot or is not willing to play by the rules...they will pay for it....Hey they agreed to these rules, now they have to live by them.

as214-----not if its to do a 91 flight.

Shady shop? Hmmmmmm, shortest rest period averages about 12-15 for me. Real shady.

Shortest rest period that has been asigned to you? Or shortest rest period due to how busy you are.

There is a difference.

Yeah great what happens if you get to the hotel at 2 pm and you and your boys are briefed for a 7 am show next day. You plan your rest around that and boom , the phone rings at midnight two hours after you go to sleep and its scheduling. "Hey we need you at the airport ASAP".. Do you have balls and call fatigued on the spot or later in the day or does fear get the best of you and you say to yourself" CS wont give me my raise and I wont be able to ingraciate myself to management in order to give myself the viability and flexibility to keep getting raises and do well with my yearly review"?

As far as work rules are concerned.....CS is in the position now where we were prior to Feb 17, 2005....when 91K took effect. If their management can match nearly everything we here have then why can't they match the rest rules as well......

Geronimo doesnt fly Citations.

Also its funny that some people think I am sorely mistaken... those same persons do not know what legal Rest per 135/91k is. No wonder they think they are complying with the regs.

Once again. NJ is the only company I know that complies with FAA Prospective Rest and duty regs. FLOPS soon to follow.
