Be careful netjetwife works for the union. Have no clue what she means by her statements that she investigates cases for the union. Could you imagine her investigating your case time to quit if that happens you have no chance.

She gains by getting us to join 1108. her husband is a union official. She could care less about us poor underpriviledged pilots.

Union dues... too much?

Most of us were sending in voluntary contributions every month above our required dues!

NJW scares you? Grow some cajones.

Do you obey the 135/91K duty and prospective rest rules where you work? Thank a NJ Teamster if your company does... because WE forced the FAA's hand. Thats worth the union dues I pay every month.

But as far as I can tell NJ is the ONLY place that obeys the rules.

I have bounced around from job to job and am hopeful i will be here a long time. The opinions scare me that is what i was saying. Also does she really investigate cases on behalf of 1108?

You are sorely mistaken, sir.

Nope. Gunfyter knows what he's talking about. Talked to multiple CS guys on the road who has said it's fairly common for the company to call them at the hotel after ten hours and cut into their pre-assigned rest. If it was 1 or 2 guys maybe I'd call b.s. but I've heard it from more than 10. You guys should join 1108 that alone right there is worth the 1.8% wage assessment.

As far as union due's, I have already paid for about 5 times my yearly union dues this year because of our union. Give you an example: Didn't get home on last day, unrealisticly scheduled - 2 extended days, stayed on the clock, collected 16 hours of overtime - equals about 2 extended days...and for the cherry on top, my first day back they shouldn't have started me until 12pm because that is what time I got home on my extended day, they started me at 6am, grivance and will get 1 extended day. Lets recap, 5 extended days for getting me home 12 hours late equals over $2500. My union dues for the year are approx $1152, becuse of the union I am up $1350 for this year alone. I don't have the numbers infront of me, but last year because of class action grievances I have paid for my dues for about the next 5 years. Rhetorical question now, do you think that having a union and paying union dues are worth it?

Before the union flamers start, anybody who makes that kind of extra money only got it because the COMPANY BROKE THE RULES, and the union ENFORCED them.

Oh, and NJW's husband is a union VOLUNTEER, not an officer. We have literally hundreds of volunteers working in committees to aid the company and our pilots.

I realize that you may have the impression that our union is all about what we can TAKE, but in fact we're working hard to help the company streamline things and become more efficient, and more profitable, thus also helping secure our futures. Contract's done. We really are tryinghard to move forward.
