Had to call Higher Power today and they have just been informed by SWA that SWA is now requiring 1000 hours PIC turbine, not 1300. Have fun!

Does that apply even if you don't have a type rating yet?

Probably less people applying there now that the legacies are hiring.

It was only a matter of time.

Thats about 4-5 months flying for people accumulating hours at ~75 hours/month.

There's also certain folks who for various reasons are "frozen" at less than 1300 PIC. I remember reading a post a few years back on this website. The guy was at USAir, hoping to apply to SWA, but had something like 1100 turbine PIC (all accumulated in the 1980s as a commuter captain). Because they upped the mins, he was short.

It'll also help military folks, as if they're not actively deployed, they accumulate time at a much slower rather than civilian folks.

Lastly - I'm appreciative, it helps me. I wasn't going to crack 1300 turbine PIC until June, but I have over 1000 turbine PIC. Going to fill out the application this weekend. I am doing my type in May.

I seriously doubt that is the case. Considering the number of pilots SWA needs to hire, there is only a finite number who have the 1300 PIC. They raised it to 1300 in the first place because they were not interviewing with less than that. I would bet there are plenty of good people who want to fly "7 legs a day between LBB and DAL" with between 1000 and 1300 PIC. I am happy they will get their chance now.
