10 year employment history

For most applications they want a ten year employment history. Questions is do you need to list EVERY job you have had? Being furloughed twice in 10 years, I have had a few odd jobs (working for the city. delivering pizza etc) when the job was only 3 weeks maybe 30 hours of pay worth of employment. So if you go back 10 years to college I would have maybe 10 jobs, 2 airlines and and 6 or so odd jobs that where for only a few weeks at a time to get money. For some they may have only one sheet that covers thier 10 years of emoployment but in my situation i may need 4 sheets, is this what they really want? thanks

Yes. They want your entire 10 year employment background. Get busy. Go back 10 years and try very hard to figure out the months and years of employment. If you were in school state that. If you were unemployed state that also and someone will have to verify that. Make sure you get accurate addresses and phone numbers and contacts. You should call first and make sure there are individuals there who can verify your employment. Write the information on a piece of paper nice and neat so you have easy information to transcribe on any employment application. Good luck.

So how do you verify your status in "UNEMPLOYMENT"? Find two other jokers without jobs and get them to endorse something for you?

Most places I've applied to just want a non-family member reference who can verify the dates of unemployment.

I was told by one regional that they just wanted employment historyback ten years, or until you got out of school. If you held odd jobs inschool, they didn't care about them. They just basically wanted to beable to account for your whereabouts and what you were doing for thepast decade. Not sure if they're all like that or what. Hope so,because I don't remember anything about some of the odd jobs I've had,and- if they're still in business- I guarantee they don't all rememberme.

Another scenario...

Should you still include jobs you held if they were only seasonal (summer,x-mas)?

If you have a ten year period covered with no gaps of full time employment, should you still include those jobs that were only temporary or jobs you held to supplement your income, even though they weren't permanent?

If that's the case that is like 10 different jobs I held during the holidays or the summers just to make some extra cash!

Would that come across as having an unstable employment history?

I had an interview and listed about 15 jobs, summer jobs, college jobs, back home jobs to make a little $ while visiting the parents ect..

They asked about it at the interview, and said "wow you move around a lot" So I dont know if I should of listed that stuff or not?

So they won't take a note from your mom, but they will take a note from somebody not in your family, like the janitor or the lunch lady or the UPS guy?

So you say, "hey main, would you sign this here note saying you dint see me do nuttin between this day here and that day there, main?"

I think you have to have a good explaination for gaps in your work history, but I don't think you need to get a note from the "un-employment" hall monitor.

Ref: FAR 108.33 lists all the correct ways to verify employment and unemployment. A letter from your doctor or other professional that you have seen during unemployment will work as long as its on his/hers letter head and the contct info is there. They will call and ask about it. Self employment requires contact info from clients, or vendors you may have used.
As for every little job, they want it all, even if it was for a week, even if you were a volunteer and did not get paid....

Home land is making sure you were not part of, associated with and criminal element that might be on their lists....

Its a lot of work, I know I have ben through it enough, someone suggested to make a list, this is is a great idea and will save you alot of grief should you forget someone. You will get turned down by many employers if your background comes back different than what you stated, and you wont know why or what was wrong. The best thing is to PAY for your own background check to see what it says, sort of like a credit report..good luck

I believe things are changing to 5 year employment histories now. I have only had to give 5 year employment history for all airlines I have applied at... maybe its different for each one?
