I'm unfit every night. HelI, I've put on 10 lbs. around the gut just in the last year. When I stumble out of the FBO after sleeping for two hrs. and my shirt is half untucked would the TSA consider me unfit then too?

I've heard that some of there training
is directed at sniffing out pilots.
A guys got to know his limitations.
This a sad situtation, I wish this guy the
best of luck and hope the TSA is wrong on
this one again.

Interesting thought, JetSnake... I have only heard about those pilots who were probably drinking and attempting to fly, aka. the America West guys.

I'd be interested in any verified episodes where TSA screeners wrongfully identified a pilot as having alcohol on his/her breath. Anybody out there have info on this issue?

I know of only a couple places in which I
know furloughed pilots working as TSA
agents, I won't mention ATL.
Or MKE, I've been told to watch your steps.
The sad thing is you won't hear about the pilots
that were suspected and were innocent.

I can't believe it, but it's true.

Fox News just reported that the CAL pilot was subjected to alcohol testing and the results were NEGATIVE.

Repeat NEGATIVE.

I never thought I would see Fox report something as anti-climatic as that.

Of course they gave no further info. Anyone heard anymore details?

TSA Morons Are Not Alcohol Screeners

I hope that Continental pilot sues the Transportation Security Administration and retires a very, very rich man.

Aren't we scrutinized enough? 10 year background checks prior to EACH employment ... Checkrides every six months ... Medicals every six months ... Recorders in the cockpit ... ID Badges that need to be verified before we can even go to our airplanes ...

The TSA policy of looking for "things" rather than looking for potential terrorists has made a mockery of the airline industry. Now 80 year old grandmonthers and 6 year old girls are patted down in a search for the ever-so-dangerous nail files and screwdrivers. Now they're suddenly qualified to determine if we're fit to fly our airplanes too???

Its a shame we dont have the cajones to shut down the aviation transportation system (read: "dont go to work") until the government comes up with a universal access card that we can use to bypass this security nightmare.

I hope this guy takes them to the laundry. Go ahead, flame away.

Reversal

You are not going to believe it.

1 hour later.

Now Fox is reporting that the pilot tested POSITIVE.

That's right folks.

Now the test was positive.

He is grounded pending an FAA investigation.

CNN is reporting that he tested positive, and that he was stopped by a Federal Air Marshall. Would it be possible for everyone (Media) to report the same "facts" for once?

In the media I think the proper term is "FAX". As in some BS that some bunghole sent you without bothering to see if it had any basis in reality first.

That seems to be the M.O. for the major cable news organizations.
