The TS is not required prior to UPT however some units mine included will hold you until your clerance is recieved. Especially if a TS is required. Why waste the money on AMS/UPT if the gaining unit will loose someone when it could have been prevented.
I accomplished my first interview pre...
As a guard guy at UPT I can personally tell you that ATTITUDE is everything. The IP's will teach you how to fly the way they want you to, but you have to be willing to listen.
Prior flight time helps for about the first week of Tweets. After that it's anybodys game.
I had a lot of...
It's here now. The first group of IP's go to PIT this week and the first class of students is 04-04. That class will be half and half. Knights flight will be T-6 and Hyenas flight will be T-37.
We had the first safety briefing last week and things will be changing soon to incorporate the T-6...
Steve,
If you want a pilot job in the AF, you might want to take a look at the Air National Guard. Talk to the director of personell (DP) at a unit near you home. They can answer any questions about getting into the cockpit and they won't push you into enlisting. If money for college is an...
Alright you guys...knock it off.
Ohh wait that's my military bearing talking...I still havn't removed all the brainwashing. I only graduated on Fri.
It's a piece of cake. Do what they say, do it quickly and do it right the first time. Project confidence and use common sence. The academics...
Well, Things are starting to progress.

landing distance
For the preflight planning that is required and provided by a dispatcher or the pilot themselves,
the landing distances calculated for a part 25 certified transport category aircraft include
1) crossing the approach end of the runway at 50'
2) on Vref for the weight of the...
Look at the stats
yes, 91/135 guys fly in the bad stuff.
Green = Go
Yellow = be carefull
Red = be more carefull
(radar returns)
the check you fly around don't care about severe turbulance. How many of you (91/135) get violated and/or get killed every year? Compare that to the number of 121...
My former employer has a procedure to avoid the stab overload condition. start retrimming the stab before 160 kts.
What happened in BOS was a run-away trim condition. What bothers me about it was the pitch trim disconnect button didn't stop the trim actuator.
I wasn't there...So I don't...
FAA visit to UPT
I've been told that the FAA comes in and does paperwork for the UPT grads for Comm. MEL centerline thrust. True/ Not true, You former IPs would know.
Here's my question. Right now I am eligible to get my ATP. I have all the required time, but not the money to get it. Will the...
I'm doing a logbook audit, and have come across a question that I hope someone can answer.
When logging sim time in a level D sim; Do you log the flight just like you would if the same flight was in the AC? Ie. turbine/jet, XC, SIC, airports of landings.
Thanks in advance
If you just use PA to find your DA, you will miss a very imporant part of flying. Terrain Clearance. If you only fly from your airport to the practice area and back only on days when High pressure dominates, You'll be fine. When you start doing long X-c flights, you may cross a front or fly...
I'm in the same boat as far as UPT and flight time. If got a Senior pilot's flight log with about 2000 hrs of civilian time in it. I'll be going to UPT this summer from the 111th FW PA ANG. Should I continue to use the same logbook or get a new one just for the Mil flying?
Thanks in advance

I'm not mad at the pilots, nor at mainline. They are doing what they feel needs to be done. I can say this because I was laid-off from a USX carrier, no recall...
I've got an interview on Wed. Any last minute gouge. I've heard about the Cog test. Did you take it last year? Remember what it is like? Heard anything about it? How much longer will they have the EMB-120?
Do you use a computer program to sort out the pairings for the bidding? (not that I'm...
