You've answered that one already. King Air has to top that list, not the sexiest or fastest on the block, but, there's a reason they still sell lots of King Airs. Reliability, comfort, relative economy.
Sorry, I don't have an answer for your primary question, but...............
Gotta say, the whole annunciator panel just went red with your CP scenario, I'd be extremely cautious with the idea of being listed as CP "on paper" as you say. IMHO, there's no amount of salary whatsoever that would...
From an old POH for a stock II:
0 flaps normal t/o procedures, assume max gross of 4570:
Acc/stop: 3050
Ground roll 1350
T/O dist. 1700 (I assume tha's over 50ft obstacle, the charts aren't clear on that).
Notes I have for an old one I flew years ago show useful load 1503. With 5...
A few years ago, I spent quite a few hours instructing in a Seneca II, mostly "beginning" multiengine students. It can certainly be done, our standard procedures were to make sure that power had been reduced slowly to some lower-range setting prior to any engine-out simulations. Kind of takes...
Looking at different tug options, looks like the small Lektro (8600 series) would work for us. I've seen plenty at FBO's, but never used one. Specifically, I'm wondering about battery life and cost of replacements. Usage would be low, 2 or 3 times a week max. Any real-world info would be...
121.8436(a): Except as provided in pargraph (b) of this section, No certificate holder may assign any flightcrew member, and no flightcrew member may accept an assignment, for any flight time scheduled to begin any sooner than 12 hours after watching the Letterman monologue, or any portion...
In all seriousness, if you want to eat well on as little money as possible, how about going to a grocery store? These days most hotels have a fridge/microwave in the rooms, it's a simple matter to go shopping and stock up on sandwich stuff, fruit/cereal for breakfast, even get creative for hot...
aa73, you've got a valid point about "co-captain." (Not my term, by the way, but I'll consider it dropped from my glossary!)
Just to clarify the situation I was referring to, all 3 pilots were type-rated and qualified, and during the rotations, the pilot assigned left seat was captain, the...
I can only guess that strategically, Cape Air (and Tecnam) have decided that, despite the PT-6's near-bulletproof reputation, a single-engine plane is not a viable option (may or may not be a valid opinion).
I've seen Part 91 3-man ops rotate, say 2 weeks on, 1 off, for all pilots, where all 3 were co-captains. 1st week on was right-seat, then you slid over to captain for 2nd week. Worked very well, but, I don't see how that would help much with any busy 135 scheduling, say, when the crew gets home...
This scenario, in my experience, has always been considered legal, (prudence, wisdom, insurance, etc. are another story, as noted) using the FAR references you've cited. If your Fed comes up with a reference, please post a link!
That said, getting cross-wise with the local El Commandante...
I'm really not trying to be a smarta$$, but my first thought is, you've overlooked the other $50-100K that's really needed to buy into the twin game at a decent serviceable level (not counting those with timed-out engines).
Just a guess......hotter air is too thin to provide the resolution accuracy required? Same reasons for RVSM at high altitudes, or the old pre-RVSM 2000' split between useable levels.
Lots of ways to go, military, aviation college/academy, local FBO/flight school.......whatever route you might decide, I'd strongly recommend staying away from any kind of flight-training incurred debt (training loans). The pilot profession is very volatile and fickle as far as hiring, and the...
