    Thrust reverse...

Silly mind game but you have to run all possibilities through the noggin: 20K ' and you get both deployed. Stuff the nose down to maintain flying speed. What would the airplane do if both deployed symmetrically? Would they get ripped off? Would it just drop like a meteor?

Informal poll for the IR's: do you fly single piston in IMC?

Let me be the first to stand up and defend the older (presumably more experienced) pilot, I do not believe they are all "wusses that have lost their nerve" as some will surely say. Neither does it mean they are all on a fast track to a life in the living room recliner. It may just be that...

RPM increase when cycling the prop? Why??

I think it (MP falls as pitch is coarsened) happens because when the blades meet more resistance (presented broadside to the air)............... the engine is no longer sucking as much air - simply because it is slowing down.

Informal poll for the IR's: do you fly single piston in IMC?

I have little hesitation to (if I know and trust the airplane), even with pax - but I can't say I do it "yes, frequently". So, A) subset i).

    Thrust reverse...

Do we know what the flight characteristics of any of these a/c are, with reverse selected? Brick attached to an anchor? Uncontrollable?

Type A or B RNAV STARS ( KLAS)

The Direct Approach, a newsletter put out by Cessna Sept 06 issue says the GNSXLS will not be upgraded to WAAS. For $10K you can get an upgrade that will make it an RNP unit and for that you can accept the type A and B RNAV SIDS & STARS (and PRnav in Europe). This price is a 'discounted' ($3K)...

    GPS approach designators

    1. What other types of LNAV/VNAV equipment other than "baro augmented VNAV" is there? 2. Some LNAV-only units ask you to input the alt setting.... and their manuals say they use altitude data to aid the gps in confirming position. If we don't put in an altitude, and only insert the alt...

Overheard a TFR bust in Joplin yesterday... What's it going to take!!!!

I can tell you what, it will take an END to all these stupid and pointless TFRs. What a silly, feel-good exercise at the expense of our freedoms.

    Pilot Resume No-No's

Having any stains or marks on your resume ewwwww! Hope they're dry, at least! Using personal pronouns like I, me, and my yaw, I've always written mine in third person; "and he is such a wonderful pilawt..." Forgeting to include an email address kind of competes with those accurate spelling...

    GPS approach designators

What is the specific difference between these two approaches? Thanks: a) "GPS 34" b) "RNAV (GPS) 34" these are fabricated examples, not real approaches. just wondering why they are designated as such.
