    When I was on the 320, all I ever bid were 5 day commutable trips. I went 5 months as a line holder without buying a hotel. As a commuter I loved them.

    There are over 2,000 pilots in non bid categories. The list you posted is for active pilots. There are over 700 just on sick leave, that doesn't include supervisory pilots, furlough bypass, or mil leave pilots. There are a total of 12,255 on the list.

    Alpha Floor is only a Normal low protection. In Alternate law, the levers must be manually placed in the TOGA Detent.

    The detent must be selected, TOGA is beyond the autothrust range. At 1500', the thrust levers are moved to the climb detent. If they were in the TOGA detent, they were manually placed there.

    Even with the autothrust off, they will still command TOGA if needed as long as the system is operational.

    The TOGA detent is supposed to override the autothrust system and give you TOGA power. I don't whether the particular aircraft was in TOGA.

    TOGA is TOGA no matter what, when the thrust levers are in the TOGA detent, that is what you get. Alpha Prot does not exist in Alternate law, it is a Normal law protection.
