    Fed Ex Crashed in TLH..

http://www.tallahassee.com/mld/tallahassee/3740826.htm Tallahassee has ILS / GPS 27 GPS 9 VOR / GPS 18 ILS / NDB / GPS 36 Runways 18 - 36 have been closed and the glideslope for ILS 36 has been out for a while. Pics make it look like they circled to land but I can't really tell.

    Bold Horizon Inc.???

STAY AWAY Stay away from the flight school! Two buddies of mine had a very bad experience working for them. The company owes them money they will never get back. If you'd like details on why you should stay away send me a private message and I'll fill you in. I'd rather not post anything...

    Insurance - Jet

I may be able to snatch up a corporate job from a friend. My concern is Insurance. I only have 600tt and maybe 50 multi. Would I even be insurable on a small business jet like a Citation Jet or a King air 90?

How to search for local flight dept?

Go to faa.gov or avweb.com and look in the registered aircraft database. Then search your local area for planes. Then get a list of companies that own aircraft.

    Food for thought

As a solution to our glut of pilots, the root cause of all the industry's employment woes, why not make it exceedingly difficult to become a pilot? For example, as its been pointed out, when XYZ airline can't get any 2000 hour pilots, they don't raise the pay, they lower the qualifications...

Maybe moving to Jacksonville FL. I'd be looking to CFI part time (after 5 and on weekends) Anybody have the FBO scoop? Thanks

    Pilot Shortage

bobbysamd I agree 100% with bobbysamd An example of a shortage in labor would be for nurses. Go look in the paper, there are 100s of open nursing jobs. They are not being filled and the pay is slowly going up as a result (in florida anyway) Now go and find a pilot position advertised...

    Pay for Time or Training?

Drop it Boy has this topic been beat to death. The issue is not is PFT bad, but how low is it ok to stoop. I find it annoying that you people will take a regional job for 20K a year. If no one took the job then they might pay a reasonable wage. But you guys take the jobs, the pay stinks...

    Privatizing ATC

http://slate.msn.com/?id=2066948 Ok, it's not really about planes but I believe it's analogous to the ATC issue. http://slate.msn.com/?id=2066948

    Privatizing ATC

What is wrong with ATC? Why do we need to change it? What is going to be better about a system that is private? In the last 5+ years and 700 hours I've flown I have had no problems with the system. I always get a weather briefer, I get accurate weather 99% of the time. My flight plans are...

    Outside Looking In

I'm not an aviation professional - I'm 27 with all my commercial/CFI ratings and about 700 hours. I keep up with the writings on scope and RJ's (its interesting!) and it seems to me that basically the mainline guys are finding it cheaper to send flights to the regionals because you can pay the...

    Flight Tracker

    Help!

holding Two suggestions... 1) Have your student do some holds not under the hood on a vfr day when you can see the VOR. It makes a lot more sense to students when they can see outside, see the VOR, and see how everything looks. It will probably solve his trouble with situational awareness...

    Tallahassee, Florida

TLH There are two operators in Tallahassee 1) Eagle Aircraft - Maybe they do 'trips' now maybe not, maintenance is not as bad as everyone says, but I would say they are slightly below the average for an FBO in aircraft appearance. They do not have a 135 certificate anymore. They do have a...

    Computers / Pilot

Does anybody out there work in a job where flying is just part of the job? I've been working in the IT field for a number of years and teaching flying part time for a couple years as well. I enjoy both, and I'd like to find a job where I can do some computer work and fly the company plane as...

    Scariest moment in flight??

oops Flying in IMC with a student on one of my first instrument lessons. The student is flying, we are doing a VOR approach, 1700 feet, all is well, the student starts the procedure turn inbound, I reach down at my feet to grab a chart and as I'm looking back up the student says 'I think I've...
