DayJet's finally posted their hiring minimums...and they are RIDICULOUS!!!

ATP
3000TT
1000 PIC
500 PIC in a Turbojet

I was really interested in working for them but seeing as I don't have 500 turbojet PIC, I guess I won't. Anyone else think that is a little excessive?

They ought to take lessons from the folks in HR at UAL. Correct me if I'm wrong, but at UAL, mins were 250TT, no turbine let alone jet or PIC time required (during their hiring days). Thats just the opposite of excessive.

Why is it ridiculous to expect that a pilot in command of an unproven jet for a new company carrying passengers for hire should have 500 hours of turbojet PIC? If I were paying for one of those seats I'd want to make sure my pilot had some PIC experience in a jet aircraft.

So, your saying DayJet is going to be an all female pilot group? DOH! (I keed, I keed)

Their website states: Initially they will operate with a crew of 2. That being the case, 500 hrs PIC Turbojet for the Right Seat, does seem a bit on the high side. IMO

If I was in the back I wouldn't think so.

If you think you're shocked. Just wait until at the rich people trade their cirrus in for a VLJ and then go to call for an insurance quote.

Atleast the VLJs will make small holes.

Those minimums, which are for captains (DayJet is hiring only captains initially), is because DayJet wants to maintain an ARG/US Platinum rating. Starting salary is $50,000, but it's the quality of life that make the job--start and end at the same airport, nine-hour shift (6 am-3 pm or 2 pm to 11 pm), weekends/holidays off, two weeks of vacation, med/dental/vision/life insurance, etc.

The 9-hour shift doesn't sound bad. But I wonder what happens when Mr. or Mrs. Moneybags is late getting to the airport near the end of the pilots' shift. I can't believe DayJet would strand a passenger. And if they already have passengers onboard, I wonder what DayJet's policy will be for late-showing passengers.

It'll be an interesting market segment to watch as it develops.

So rich people don't want to fly on weekends or holidays? Right. We'll see how long that lasts.

I guess the only thing I really find excessive is that 500 hours of your PIC must be in a TurboJET. I have plenty of Turbine PIC, too bad it's in a turboprop.

haha, is this for real? Sounds good on paper, but so did communism.

Isn't Dayjet 135 charter? Why is this thread in the fractionals? I was reading on another aviation board where a guy wanted to come to NJA and build turbine time so he could get on with Dayjet. I had not laughed that hard in awhile.
