Left at bandaid.......One of my favorite movies---Fandango--Truman Sparks is da man!!

Bob Hoover is a god.

However, the one time he had to deadstick his Shrike, he ended up in a rockpile off the airport. (Bob and his hat were unharmed.)

Even Bob Hoover can't fly a piston Commander very far on Jet A.

I don't think there is, but i'm looking.

It would seem like, if I can see it, the data has made it to my ram, if not my hard drive. Must be a way to capture it. Maybe right click, save target as?

one of my favorite too, but the funny thing is the actual quote isn't "left at bandaid", it goes something "like left at somewhere??(some exit I think) to bandaid". Do a search for the movie Fandango, there is a guy who has a site dedicated to the movie with all the quotes. Another quote:

"they've seen butts before lewis, there from New Jersey":D

Had Bob Hoover in back from MGM to ATL in June. I haven't felt that much pressure to make a good landing in a looong time!

Normally I'm finishing paperwork as the pax are deplaning so I don't see them, but the paperwork could wait that time. Really nice guy. He said I done good.

He was the best airshow performer I've ever seen. I was fortunate enough to see him fly the P-51, T-28, Sabre 40 & the Shrike. A true gentleman & an amazing performer.

Saw Bob Hoover do that at an airshow in Tulsa many years ago. Best damn performance I've ever seen. It was eerie quiet when he shut em down, did the loop, did the roll then stopped it at airshow center in front of the crowd.

Everyone was quiet during the manuevers but erupted in applause and whistle's and cheers when he finished.

Way cool!

Thanks for the link!

Eric

Bob Hoover was a director at Evergreen when I was there. One day during a tour of the Postal hub facility at Terra Haute, Del Smith asked him to show one of the guests what he did. He took the SabreLiner up and did his show for the 6 of us.
He and Shawn Tucker are the best I have ever seen.

I gave Sean Tucker a ride to the hotel in the FBO crew car back in 1992, I was a line-boy back then, he was real cool, a "regular guy", and told me how he started doing aerobatics to overcome his fear of flying (!!!)

This really happened..when I was at Sun-n-Fun 2003, Bob Hoover went right past me on a golf cart. I must have been only eight feet from him. Yes it was incredible sharing airspace with a legend.

Hoover is a incredible pilot. The best in my opinion.
Sean Tucker is no slouch. That prop hanging maneuver blows my mind.

I know Bob lost his FAA medical for a while, went to Australia and flew there, then returned to flying in America when he won a legal battle w/the FAA... what happened after that?? Did he quit flying airshows because of a personal decision to retire or what? And when did that happen? I would've loved to have seen him in person - I saw somebody (can't remember who off hand) fly Bob's P-51 at an airshow in Mountain Home, ID in 2000.
Sean Tucker is great -yeah the "Harrier Pass" is amazing as is the triple-ribbon cut...Patty Wagstaff is incredible too - met her once and she's a real nice lady.
Always wondered what happened to Bob after the FAA dispute though....someone can fill in????
