Another BIG thumbs up on Serengeti's....cut through the distant haze to see runways earlier, yet light enough to see the instruments in the cockpit with ease....and, they're very easy on the eyes.

A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I were clipping along at altitude on a hazy (high pressure) early morning flying into the sun.

She was commenting how "pretty" the scenery was. I looked at her like she was from Mars.

So, we traded sunglasses (she has the non-polarized Serengeti's and I have a pair of sporty, polarized Ray Bans).

I couldn't believe the difference. She was right. Plus, I could read the Avidyne and Sandel from side angles.

We're trying to find a pair with the lenses like hers, but in a different style (so we don't look like the funny old couple in matching everything) for me, for flying.

Wear whatever you want. If someone wants to make fun of your shades let 'em. Since the rest of what you wear is dictated by your company why not show a little character and wear the shades you have now? I wear black Ray Ban wraparounds because I look like a tough guy and I need all the help I can get to raise my low self esteem. I leave them on to say goodbye to the PAX, but I just recently started taking them off in the terminal.

rudy project ekynox sx. racing red lens. perfect for all conditions. you can get a number of different lenses and pop in the one you want.. clear, yellow, orange, red, brown(s), grey(s).
adios

I also have prescription Oakley's, have had the same pair for 3 years now and they are in excellent shape. They really take a beating and yet look good as new.

However, I am about due for a new prescription, and may just give the Serengetti's a try if I can get them in prescription.

I'm pretty certain you can get Serengetis with a prescription. I just wear contacts and buy off the shelf.

Please, I have to wear my prescription lenses to fly. I know that Serengettis are great, does anyone know if I can get Serengetis, or something as good in prescription form?

Zeal optics are great. Lightweight, good looking, and many styles can be had in Rx.
