I'm rarely in support of a company venturing into politics. You will alienate 45% of the country, and the 10% independents will view it as amateurish.

I'm a democrat, and support Obama on this particular issue for a few reasons. But I wouldn't want SWA making a statement in support or against knowing there are tens of thousands of employees who are SwA who would disagree with any position SwA would take.

Not just a percentage of your employees, of course, but probably a similar percentage of your customers as well--regardless of which side of an issue the company publically opined on.

The same lack of backbone to standup for what's right that allowed the
AirTran Captain's seats to be stolen!

I agree, it was a strange move. Delta should stick to being a transportation provider - I wouldn't expect McDonald's to opine on changes to NHTSA automotive recall rule changes.

FWIW, I support reforming the system,. My father was an immigrant, a legal one - but it's not the easiest system to navigate, his paperwork had been eaten by the bureaucratic machine twice on his path to citizenship. Personally, I think we should start streamlining the process for folks who enter the country "through the front door" before we start making allowances for everyone who snuck in the back gate. Obviously, I'm a bit biased.

Nice try but must you try to turn every thread into your misguided diatribe?

Of course they must.

When it fits the narrative, Southwest is an evil genius controlling every aspect of the airline industry including regulatory officials, FAA, NTSB and lawmakers. Each agency is like a marionette on strings dancing to the whims of the evil SWA puppet masters.

Of course the narrative turns on a dime and SWA is nothing more than a group of bungling morons unable to accomplish even the simplest of tasks and needing help to get a paper airplane off the ground, much less an entire fleet of jet airplanes.

Take your pick either scenario is equally plausible.

While I'm unhappy about my employer venturing into the political arena, I can't help but wonder if this might be a backpedal after going after the government and the Ex Im bank!
Generally speaking, people really don't give a ******************** about stuff like this, as long as its the cheapest ticket in town!
How many times has someone said, "never again," only to reverse course because of "cost!"
Move along! Nothing to see here. Haters gonna hate, no matter what happens!
