That would make more sense than the eyewitness who said the plane was taking off, became airborne, fell to the runway, then incurred a nose gear collapse.

Yikes is right, more reports that the plane actually was airborne then slammed back down, glad all is well with pax, but this story will get interesting real quick.... hope this was a V1 abort only..

I'd be willing to bet that US Airways probably provides some sort of training to their pilots on go/no go decisions, and might even use a type of "airplane simulacrum" to play out these very situations.

I'd reserve judgment on the crew for just a bit yet. There have been rare situations whereby a crew has justifiably aborted beyond V1 and bent the airplane, but saved lives.
