I don't know a single person that prefers to travel on Delta vs Alaska...I'm sure there are some but ... Just saying ... When I fly East of GEG ... I try not 2 ... I hear the people getting off that don't know us say " wow I really like you guys , better than Delta or American or ... Fill in the blank..?..
All my business traveling friends will actually avoid Delta or American if they can stay on Alaska flights even if it adds a few hours to their trip..

Cool story Bro!!!

You must have had the passenger who told me they will never fly American again because they are always bumpy and we were smooth all the way across the Atlantic.

C'mon....get real!

Ok smarty pants.. yes we have all had pax like your taking about .. But I was referring to the pax that have never flown on us before .. Some are Delta and American code share people .. That don't fly us ever .. Just saying I hear it mostly from eastcoast cities and people ..
Whatever who cares it a job in the end .. Hope Alaska is still around till I retire at age 72

No, I think this will create major changes.... All great in my eyes. Maybe DL will actually fly more mainline up and down the West Coast. 100 total new 739ERs coming, 88 total 717s, 30 A321s, 10 more A330s, and maybe slow down the parking of some planes? Yeah, sounds like some spare planes could be available. Those CR9s and E175s could always be replaced I guess. Can't wait to see what happens next, but overall this is what should have happened first, instead of having Barbara Bush flying DL pax around. Good turn of events.

Bye Bye---General Lee

Hoooray!!! Airliners.net!!! Wooo Hooo!!

I flew the last SLC flight with Delta handling us last night. Everyone seemed a bit sad, actually.

Does anyone else think the timing of all this going on with Delta and our Chairman of the Board "retiring" simultaneously is a little interesting? Did Delta make an offer for Alaska that was rebuffed and now they are trying to drive the price of Alaska stock down and revisit the offer in a year? Was Bill A. against Alaska expansion and now that he is leaving we are fighting back against Delta?
If I had to guess, I would say Delta is going to throw capacity at Alaska like it has never seen before and flood the northwest markets with seats. Alaska's investors will start to bail and the stock price will fall. When it is down around 40, Delta will come back with an offer of $50-60 and it will be a done deal.

Probably the most accurate prognostication on here in some time.

Ok, I'll add my conspiracy theory (tin foil hat on). Delta makes it look like a battle with Alaska, building up the northwest. American uses Alaska to fly it's west coast connections, thinking it's safe. Delta aquires Alaska and owns the west coast. American is left with it's pants down on the west coast. That's why I say American should eventually have it's own west coast operation. Well, that and I'm a westie. :)

Certainly could be. Some of the Alaska pilots I know don't think a Delta acquisition would be a bad thing, they almost welcome it.

I wouldn't necessarily "welcome" it but I certainly don't think it'd be the end of the World like a lot of Alaska folks would. We'd get a fair deal via MB, negotiate industry leading rates, and move on. All I'd care about is protecting the bases. Not interested in being based anywhere East of San Diego.
