Nope. Couldn't hold a reserve period with golden days that fell clear of my vacation week. Vacation spanned right over the top of my GDO's- 4 of them. They were lost, and it resulted in having 12 days off during my vacation month.

Then it sounds like the company failed to comply with the section I quoted. I think you should've had 15-16 total days off depending on how many days were in the month.

Funny thing is reserve is so irritating, many are commuting to IAD or DFW to hold lines, even while living in ATL. One thing is certain- even if I do hold a line in the future here, I will still be pushing for reserve QOL improvements. Nobody should be treated with this type of disrespect, regardless of longevity.

Yessir, sat reserve with Erion Starker myself. Talk about Draconian. Things were certainly different, and i agree, improvements need to be made. I was talking to a somewhat jr FO in DFW awhile back. He went to DFW to hold a line, and did so. Said it was a completely different company once holding a line.

Oh, also 1/2 of your days off in the month should have been golden days per MOU 9. If 4 GDOs on the reserve line were overlapped by vacation, then of the 8-9 off days required by section 12, 1/2 of them should've been GDOs. The company should have designated 2-3 days as inviolate (company discretion on which days) in addition to the 2 GDOs already on the line. So I believe you should've had vacation plus 8-9 days off, including 4-5 GDOs.

The company screws this up from time to time, especially considering that many reserves can simply hold non-conflicting GDOs and wind up with more days off than required. Know the contract and call them on it when they owe you days off and/or GDOs.

Just upgraded????? I've been in the left seat for a whole lot longer than that.......the second time. You've got me completely mixed up with someone else. You are absolutely correct though, and I am fed up. As are the many other reserves that have been in the same boat as I. Find me a happy reserve CA, and I'll show you Elvis.

No, I know what I'm saying. You were hired in May of 2005. My point is that you weren't screaming for reserve changes when you were getting 6 months of vacation low and cherry picking trips. I'm not trying to make a personal attack, I just want to know that once you get back off reserve, which will be soon, you won't be whistling a different tune.

The junior folks have the numbers here. Any contract that doesn't benefit the top 30% and benefits the remaining 70 is the contract we should be pushing for. Screw the lifers.

Try pushing agenda at a legacy, or anywhere else for that matter. Reserve system should be improved, but you're not gonna get captain pay until you upgrade. That much is certain.

This whole 'leveling of the playing field' fantasy is a generational defect and needs to go away. You put the years in, you get rewarded. Simple as that.

That does not mean that the QOL gap between the senior and the junior should widen at every opportunity. At some point you've got to spend a tiny bit of negotiating capital to make reserve life suck less. It is always going to suck, but there is no reason for it to be as bad as it currently is.

Explain to me how 7+ year FOs, some on reserve for 3+ years, and 8+ year Captains have not put the years in. Your generational defect is that you still think our upgrade time is 3 years or less like when you got hired. Your seniority entitles you to better schedule and pay. It does not entitle you first right to bargain capital so you can get yours first. Your a perfect example of the culture of ASA and its MEC.

I'll explain it to you:

1. I've put in over 15 years (some here over 25), I'm not that senior

2. I suffer the same garbage scheduling, trip construction, maintenance problems, RR overnights, early mornings and late nights as you do.

3. I'm held to a different standard, believe that or not. I don't expect you to until you upgrade.

4. Timing is EVERYTHING

Do you realize that at Delta, ONE YEAR of seniority can mean retiring as a reserve 757/767 captain getting the leftovers, or being a line-holding 777 captain?

I fully realize that this isn't a legacy, and reserves are abused, but I'm pretty sure there will be improvements in this area. If there aren't, vote NO.

Yah, and don't forget most of the seniority list didn't suffer years of flying boiling-hot Brasilias, Dash 7's, and Twin Otters around Mid-Georgia staying in less-than-stellar, rat-hole motels with every single night being of the reduced rest variety after eight legs. Believe it or not, it was much, much worse.

Oh, so you were hired here 15 years ago when the upgrade time was 3 months and so you've "paid your dues". Suck a dck

Clutch, really. Thats how you talk to a fellow pilot?

Do you really work at Express Jet?

What are you ten years old.

I guess you don't even know what a Brasilia is.

Clutch how much time did you have when ASA hired you?
