No east/west bs, just an honest educated guess as to the future of a PHX base if it exists at all as well as how senion/junior it might end up long term?

Kirby says PHX base stronger with AA merger.

Has there been any merger where a CEO has said "XYZ base will be weaker and we will probably close it soon" before the transaction has been completed?

UAL still has denver, DAL still has SLC.

There will need to be a west coast base other than LAX to serve the smaller communities that aren't worth tying up the slots/gates in LAX.

Latest guesses: amount of flying stays the same, crew base shrinks 30% and goes very senior.

I'll second that. Due to scheduling efficiencies, I definitely could see the crew base shrinkage. I hope that I can stay in PHX or LAX and not get bumped back east.

Count on the worst, hope for the best...If the new F/A movement tells anything...PHX will go way senior due to being the only base west of the big muddy...

PHX will be like LAX is for American and be super-senior any opening will be filled by senior folks from back east. Upward movement will be virtually nil & if you bid out or are displaced good luck getting back in.

Why wouldn't displaced pilots have right of first return?

If you are displaced then presumably that's cause the base is shrinking to get back in there has to be an opening - someone else has to leave.

Well hopefully i can hold PHX. Maybe in 10 years, with the attrition and the fact that what little growth there will be, will be in Asia, I can get to LAX. Maybe it's just best to start over with Delta or Alaska. Think i'll just wait and see.
