Lion Air is one of Asia's most rapidly expanding airline markets, but is struggling to provide qualified pilots, mechanics, air traffic controllers. Lion Air signed a $24 billion deal last month to buy 234 Airbus planes. Also Lion Air is currently banned from flying to Europe due to broader safety lapses in the Indonesian airline industry
First Officers at Lionair are actually paying to build flight time through a company called Eagle Jet here in the US. This is what happens when one of the pilots is a student.
