Useful app to determine cloud height

I always laugh when I think about that Sportys ad caption for their handheld cloud thing. "Will you be in that cloud?" This app looks really cool though and I will give it a try.

How do you use this? How do you know the disance to the clouds to make the entry?

The best way to figure the distance to the tops would simply be to use your radar. Entering the distance will allow the app to take the earths curvature into account. Something the water bottle trick doesn't do.

Dude...this app is just for fun while bored in the cockpit. It in no way replaces the radar and common sense. Relax a bit...

The curvature of the earth would affect a calculation such as this. Have you ever checked to see if you'll top clouds off in the distance through your HUD, but they appear to rise as you get closer? The appearance of the clouds rising isn't only from the clouds building.

I'm sorry that you think this is "funny as sh1t" and is too complicated for you to understand.
