There is a want or a need to hire 50 more pilots this year. Supposedly waiting on approval from the finance department to allocate the money for training. Thought the window would have been opened by now. Don't know if the merger talks have had anything to do with the decision.

The last bid with a new class had guys going to all 3 east bases. 737, AB and 190. If you search on this subject I posted the breakdown back in Jan/Feb.

From your experience, does the bid effective date mean that's when they want the newhires active, on line, or in the pipeline?

I'm just a line guy but it seems to me that, to try and answere your question, this means they would have a scheduled start date. From my discussions with a chief pilot and a Captain who does the interviews we will start interviewing again around Sept with training dates in Nov. This comes as opinions only of low level management types though. Anything could happen with a possilble marriage with AA. Even with that marriage and their furloughs my guess is with seperate ops for a while (like with our ops with AWA) we will need pilots starting in Dec.

Thanks for the input, it helps.

So if you know anybody who needs a job for 2 years or so, let them know. It's a ground-floor opportunity to get into the basement.
