need GV pay PIC

pilot has extensive time in aircraft all over the world., job now is 2 weeks on 2weeks off, 2 weeks vacation, no matching 401k, no bonuses. what numbers are we looking at here, aieplin flys 400 a year.

Number range comes from people I know in NY Metro, Boston, Wash DC, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, LA, and Phoenix.

Bay Area can do even better (but you will spend even more) and London, Moscow, Dubai, Hong Kong can even top them..if thats your thing.

OP - TC is right, pay can vary by location. If you specify an area you may get a better idea? I'd not expect SFO pay in Baton Rouge.

Experienced PICs in these planes can get some nice salaries...but of course that does not make the job great. It also often seems many private owner non-management departments pay the best. The lower paid ones I know are larger departments (but doesn't necessarily mean the job is bad!) Just my observation.

2 weeks on/off means possibly lots of airlining, 2 weeks vacation is way below average, no 401k match and no bonus also need to be considered...in other words, it better pay a lot!

IIRC the latest salary figures I saw are $143K average for a GV pilot. Not having a 401K is kind of a lousy deal, however, if you are 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off, you could pick up a few contract trips during the year and fund your own retirement plan (Pre tax goes alot further though). Keep in mind that their are earnings limits to funding some IRA's. If you have a spouse that works, you could have them plow their entire paycheck into their 401K. That way the first $17K would be pre tax (assuming you are under age 50, higher otherwise). The rest would be taxed, but accumulate deferred. So I wouldn't let that be a show stopper. (I'm not a tax advisor, so don't risk your fortune on my advice )

I think that the 2 week on and 2 weeks off would be pretty appealing, now if you could get them to pay you the average salary, you'd be doing pretty well. The other part of that eqation is: where are you flying? Two weeks in Mumbai, Sierra Leon, Las Lagos or two weeks in Zurich? If the airplane only flys 400 hours a year, I would assume you would only fly 200 hours a year?? That's easy money.

The last 2 interviews I have been through have been for GV (SIC) positions. 1 in the NE and one in the Mid-West. Both have been in the ballpark of 95-102k a year. Mind the fact I was not typed and had zero experience in type. Every Director that I spoke with also told me that they would literally "Bend over Backwards" to find quality PIC's. Both were Fortune 100 companies. One even told to me to make his salary acceptable to a PIC he extended a bonus for the first 5 years on top of the company bonus just to supplement his salary. Oh, to be in the G-Community

I didn't know that there were any G-V/550s based in AZ...

There is only 1 based G-IV that I know of in SDL.

The airplane is kind of a floating airplane. The crew must live in the south Florida area. We are then airlined to the plane when it's time to go to work. And same for coming home. After 5 years with company I am around the salary jet2work mentioned. Most of our trips are international trips. Europe, occasional Asia, tons of south America. Like I said, no matching 401k, no bonuses, 2 week vacation is on our time off, which makes is a "hard two weeks off" I was just curious if the salary is in the ball park. This Is a private airplane. No management company.
