That's what I was thinkin. Just a little scope erosion to protect the senior tops, and next thing you know, Pinnacle Inc or Skywest will be launch customer for the Bombardier CS Series.

The regionals shouldn't be flying these airplanes, but as long as Delta pilots keep voting to relax scope, they will continue to give their jobs to regional guy. Some of the regional guys are too dumb to realize that the when they fly bigger and bigger planes, jobs with mainline will no longer exist.
 
Here we go again. Keep talking like us regional guys want these aircraft. Don't just stop giving away scope....TAKE BACK THE ONES THE REGIONALS HAVE. Most of us want out, but for some reason we keeping getting more aircraft. TAKE THEM BACK....PLEASE.

Eagle got a flow to AA for every Eagle pilot on property, no interview/medical, you just get assigned a class date, and 35% of newhires in a class must be Eagle. It would be a cold, freezing day in hell before the double-breasted Gods at Delta ever allowed this for Delta Connection pilots!

You mean retirements, right? We just had 168 leave for an early out, and most of them flew widebodies. That means lots of upward movement, and that is opposite of what is happening with the Regionals, which are seeing parking of planes, or planes going to Gojet.

DL could have asked for scope concessions in the joint contract when DL/NWA got together, but nothing was increased. The RJ Cap (on number of 76 seaters and 70 seaters) remained the same, while 50 seaters continue to be parked. Comair is down to 44 total planes. Can you see the trend? The next contract will unlikely be a BK contract, which means pilots try to regain things that were lost, not give concessions. DL is projected to have a profit for the year, and the last conference call stated debt was being lowered from $16 Billion initially (2 years ago) to $10 Billion by 2013 (it's now around $13 Billion), which will save the company $500 million a year in interest payments alone. Sound like a concessionary contract is in order? NOPE. Do you think SCOPE will budge? VERY UNLIKELY, and SKW knows it. 4 of their CR7s just went to Gojets. Keep hoping, though.

I would say 95% of the pilots won't budge on scope. That's not a good sign for your dreams. Very Very unlikely. No BK judge is watching this time.

Best you stick to the word SOME. For most of us we blame the Major pilots stupidity and lack of BAL$$ on this industry's demise. Most of the baby boomers are spineless gutless self loathing sellouts. I would have burned the place down.

Still getting them, I think 55 total. DL should be getting 25 of them next year, and many of them are undergoing galley mods in IND and GSO right now. They should come online as the DC9s leave, and they do pay more than the DC9s, too.

The title of your thread is "No single Aisle orders." Does the 739ER have a single Aisle? Yes, yes it does. You are wrong. Delta was supposed to order about 200 planes total, yes, but that doesn't mean Delta won't get any 100 seaters or other narrowbodies . Notice the article said DL won't ORDER any. They could always get some other ways...... you just never know. And, 55 MD90s are on the way, as stated in the previous post, with 25 coming next year. Some are already sitting in IND or GSO awaiting mods.

The main reason for the delay in ORDERING newer planes is that DL seems to currently like USED, cheaper narrowbodies (MD90s for example), and they don't want to add more debt to the current balance sheet. Management has brought the debt down from $16 billion towards $10 billion (they paid down $2 billion last year alone, and about $700 million last quarter alone), and they want to do it by 2013. If they do that, they will get a better credit rating for future financing, plus they will save $500 MILLION a year in interest payments. That is huge, and after that they probably could afford a lot more spending, and even ALPA knows that.

Debt is not always bad, especially when other airlines are looking around to merge. Your problem is that you never have merged, even with a lady, you Star Trek Dork! What if JB was bought by AA? You would be F'd. You thought Comair was bad, just wait if that happens.

Here's a synopsis of the last Delta Conference Call

June quarter notes:
  • Revenue premium results in 636 million operating profit despite 1 Bn increase in fuel costs. Revenue has outpaced fuel price increase!
  • Reduced to 13.8Bn debt
  • 8 ½% return on invested capital
September Quarter looking better than expected:
  • Operating margin between 9 and 11% (2% better than forecast)
  • Fuel coming in slightly lower than expected
  • Strong bookings with yield improvement (12% to 15% increase in revenue)
  • Capacity down 1% Y2Y (elsewhere stated as down 3%)
Going forward:
  • Managing for high fuel prices
  • Managing non fuel costs, must get costs back to 2010 costs
  • Winter flying down 5% Y2Y, especially in markets where revenues do not cover fuel prices
  • Flying 20% fewer seats in the winter than the summer
  • Done making money in the summer and losing money in the winter
  • Good at selling to business. Not as good at selling to customers. Working offerings like economy comfort which has been selling very well. Thinking about using the product domestically as well. Putting WiFi in RJ’s & Lie Flat seats. Very excited about the new JFK terminal which will be the core of “mainline.”
  • Delta.com & Res sales is 50% of sales. Better if we can sell direct
  • 10-12% down over the Atlantic. Decreasing everywhere but Latin America. Shrinking smaller hubs, especially Memphis.
  • $450 million in hedge benefits on fuel cost increases
  • Capacity reductions ARE causing non fuel costs to RISE.
Fleet renewal:
  • 737-900 15% to 20% reduction in fuel costs per seat and much lower maintenance costs compared to the 757. 757 flying will be reduced. Cash flow positive and accretive from a P&L basis. Thanked Boeing & Airbus for their work on the competition and look forward to talking to them in the “out years.”
  • Very comfortable with fleet. Put to rest any thought that we are in the market for another aircraft order. Reason … watching Capital Expenditure. No orders in the next couple of years.
  • Expect to get to 10 Bn debt level in 2013. That will save us $500,000,000 a year.
Q&A
  • Paying down debt before stock buy back
  • NWA merger credited with business sales strength
  • US Domestic is our main market with 50 to 60% of our business. Much of our international business is sold in the US. Emirates and Air Asia are not direct competitors, but they do pressure margins. We are investing in Aero Mexico and feel being partnered well allows us to compete.
  • Part of our RASM growth was the excise tax suspension

Good, now when are they gonna start hiring again?? If they do, are they gonna hire any dudes? Very few regional pilots want to stay but kinda hard to get out of here the last few years. There was little hiring and when they did hire non minorities and non females had almost no shot. Also, can't believe Northwest pilots gave flow to Compass!! They took a paycut while Compass was started and used to undercut them and now they have all been rewarded for working for and upstart undercutting POS!! What next flow for Go Jets?!! Stop complaining about regional pilots and pay attention to what is going on!! I don't think rewarding undercutting regional pilots is a good start. And don't say we are all the same, some of us got hired when regionals did regional flying and have been stuck here due to the tough environment the past 10 years!!
 
If you want to get hired at Delta and you don't work at compass already, you need to grow some long blond hair and ditch the family jewels. Don't worry, no PIC time is needed, they'll hire regional FO's as long as you fit the category.
