Last year the company told us that Fall/Winter 2010-2011 would be as busy as Summer 2010 was. And it was. I've heard rumors that they are expecting a major decrease in Fall 2011 hours which is why they have been allowing the place to run catastrophically lean.

Anyone know if there is truth to this? Are we getting a break? Or are they going to ruin it by opening 8 new bases in crappy uncommutable cities just to spite us..?

yes, no, yes

quit worrying about crap like this, it happens it happens, then deal with it, gezzzzzz

No. Yes. No.

Welcome to surejet where the answers are anything but sure.

They are EXPECTING a large drop in block hours to run six paint simultaneous paint lines.

4-200s & 2-700s

Per SH 05/2011 they were also EXPECTING our staffing issues to go away in June once DTW was open, the 700 transition training was completed, and the new hires were on line... That happened, right?

There is no advanced planning involved here so we'll all just have to wait until around December or January to know what's in store for us for the Fall.

Don't forget......

Every decision they make from now on.

This is from a Management that thought Surejet was a good name. Do you trust your future to a company that is this stupid/out of touch?

We're being run by a high school Glee club. Rah!! Rah!!! We're awesome!!!! 50 states and such, and all!!!!!

great point...

As per Charlie Tutt- the fall hours have been dealt to us, and it is a very deep cut in flying. They are pulling aircraft out of the system to send to paint, and they also expect the opportunity to give us a much needed break through the fall.

I'm hoping that this "much needed break" in the fall is done intelligently. Hopefully, someone figures out we need more days off, and not lines with less credit. I need time at the house to recover from my summer beating- not a 14 hour 4 day with 18 hour overnights in Jackson...........

Is ASA running any upgrades currently? I feel that ASA saved a lot of money in upgrade cycles this summer.

CH and CT say they need to get rid of PBS, but the old bidding system would not have allowed the short staffing ASA pulled off this year. Crew costs were up, but by what amount were training costs decreased to?

Those with direct control over the staffing and flight operations are not the same ones choosing the name, at least be thankful for that. Corp Comm and the consultants for the new name aren't dictating the staffing model. At least have the intelligence to point the blame finger at the right people.

Scheduling for the fall to have 6-8 planes out simultaneously is not a good sign, it's the same as withdrawing that many planes from the schedule... Wait: they just did withdraw those planes from the schedule. Delta's domestic capacity cuts keep getting deeper for the fall, but they never ending up cutting as much as they predict, even in 08-09 when the economy was worse off.

Just wait till January/February/March when the snow storms hit and they are surprised that they cant get the airline going again and that they cant restore lost days off until 6 months later(if ever). Wait is this 2009 again, or maybe 2010, or maybe 2011. Nah probably wont happen in 2012 so probably dont need to staff for it.

I think the phrase was....It doesn't matter how we got here???? That's the new slogan

I know right!? That was an extremely good one Cpt Oveur, I'm ROTFLMAO!
Tell us another great joke!

Do you really think KM in Corp Comm is dictating our staffing model? Really?

No I DON'T think that idiot is dictating our staffing model. What does that have to do with anything?

Do YOU REALLY think KM is singly responsible for the attempted name change? REALLY??

There are remedial reading classes available at low cost online. Reread what I wrote. No, I don't think that, but I honestly don't think that the System Chief Pilot had tremendous input into rebranding the company.

Do you watch alot of Springer? You know real life isn't like the show. Life isn't about who can be the snarkiest and insult via the wittiest sound byte.

Look "CPT" You just don't get it. KM didn't come up with and push the name change and the Chief pilot doesn't determine our staffing model. They only ADVISE BH.

BH and his MGMT TEAM were responsible for both of these decisions. BH told me himself the company needed to run as lean as possible otherwise we hemorrhage money. I believe that he believes that.

Spot on. BUT....BH only knows what his minions tell him. Yes the ultimate responsibility falls on his head, but I sincerely believe his underlings are covering up huge blunders and passing blame on others. We need more reform in the GO.

Nobody is keeping track of two HUGE details in flight ops. It appears that the pairings are only read after they are put out to be bid upon, and it seems as though SH and CT have no clue how to pull up and see what their reserve pilots are crediting at the end of each month. I didn't go to Harvard Business or anything, but thought that would be a pretty good indicator of how lean/fat we were on pilots.

Whatever. I don't know why you guys make excuses for him.

Between using a failing staffing model for 3 years (hoping it'll just fix itself) and re-branding us twice with failing results because nothing was actually changed, if by now he hasn't figured out what our problem is, then he's hopeless.

Give me a break.

The branding problem, yes it was the brain child of corp comm, is due to the fact that they tried to build a brand from a culture rather than build the brand from what the company mission is and where it wants to go.

The other problem is the culture they tried to project doesn't exist unless you live in the cubicle farm and hang out around the water cooler.

The culture bh wants is what we want. But those in the GO are getting away with alienating the front line, to the detriment of the company as a whole.
