Male FA, it that had anything to do with it! Also, the passenger was on TV and said the delay was for maint. to come and ducktape an overhead bin shut. He said it under his breath, but the FA was sitting next to him in the rear of the plane.

Oh, male FO gets pissy cause he heard the F word and complains to the Captain. The skipper escalates it for some dumb reason and what happened happens. Is that it?

F Bombs should not be dropped. I'm not saying they should. But was there a, "sir, there's families onboard, please refrain from that." or any other type of suggestion made? I do get the feeling much of the story is missing. Nobody gets the plane turned around for one f bomb unless VERY bad decisions are made by the WHOLE crew along the way.

For some reason I get the feeling he was probably acting obnoxious waaaay before dropping the f-bomb. Many pax who are annoyed due to a delay decide to rile other pax up by speaking loudly and acting like BMOC. Maybe the FA felt the situation was escalating and wanted no part of a mutiny.
Of course the jackass passenger now acts like Mr. Innocent.....
BTW, didn't I read he admitted to being hung over from a wedding? In that case, he had no business being on the plane (since he was probably still a bit inebriated.)

The key was when he said he "was hung over but not drunk" Suuuure he was. My money says they booted him for being drunk, the F bomb being the kicker.

I've seen several times that very response you suggested and guess what...the one being asked to curb their language got worse, cussed more and threatened a lawsuit if the FA did anything more. People are not civil enough anymore.

DING, DING, DING....we have a winner!!!
When you challenge/confront the offending party you usually get this response, "why are you picking on me?"; ""stop harrassing me or I'll report you/and or contact my lawyer." I've seen it dozens of times and it's not pretty.

But at least if they have been warned and then become more hostile there is no question later about being justified in removing them. If speaking to them makes them mis-behave more, the better off you are. I have also spoken to unruly pax who then behaved and we continued without further problem.

What gets me,is that the companies involved in these situations always see a need to apologize...

They're gonno suit you anyways. Why apologize and suggest that the crew acted improperly?

EXACTLY! I really hope ASA didn't cave and give the jerkoff free vouchers, etc. There's NOTHING I hate more than rewarding bad behavior. :angryfire

Delta rebooked him. ASA doesn't have ACS in DTW.

I had the male FA on my trip a week after this happened. He told me the story first-hand. Sounds like the pax deserved it. The booted pax is actually trying to sue the FA. He must be on some really good drugs if he thinks suing a FA will get him major $$$. I read the RIF the FA filed. So far, ASA, SkyWest, and Delta, and the male FA all have lawyers on the case. Last I heard, the pax is considering just dropping the lawsuit. But he got the publicity he secretly desired. Dude showed absolutely no class whatsoever.

Yeah.....take ALL his assets!!! Hmmm mm what might that consist of?

12 pairs of size 42 jeans, a gat, and an xbox.
