This thread is not a representation of negotiating in good faith at the table in Dallas. Whatever the reasoning behind this, let the crews do their thing in Dallas first.

I think they are in ATL. They are, I don't expect them to call me.

I have it on good authority (SWA Flight Management) that LUV is going to purchase an additional 25 717's. Hawaii flights start summer of 2012. 767's to Europe in next 5-6 years.

Count on it!

No chance at Hawaii next summer. The -800s don't arrive until March and too many things have to occur after it arrives that it would be a big deal if certification is done by the fall. Plus, they're not going to release a schedule (means they would have to plan to make that call by this Christmas) to HI for the summer unless they're 100% sure ETOPS certification will be complete by then and I just don't see that as likely.

Not to mention that our new flt planning system won't be rolled out until next summer and the current one isn't capable of ETOPS planning.

OK- bump it back a year then. HI in 2013. Europe in 2018. 717's all over the place.

SWA guys- Douglas built a great airplane. Last MD-11 was built 11 years ago and we are still buying them. Don't sell the airplane short!

I've around 5K hrs in the 717. It's a great, highly automated airplane with very uncomfortable seats. Oh, it's also frequently busted down somewhere.

Can a 6'2" dude get in and out without leaving forensic evidence in the form of hair and skin stuck to the overhead panel?

What you mean busted down?

It's way easier to get in/out of than a 73 but much less reliable. A lot of nuisance alerts and minor no-dispatch issues.

Those planes belonged to Midwest then MexicanaClick and they filed for bankruptcy and went out of business. It is my understanding that Boeing has since moved those planes to the desert in California just sitting there waiting for a buyer..... SWA?

like software issues or parts broken?

717 is a great aircraft that can have some nuisance faults if ground power fluctuates, sending the trons in a tizzy. Flies, descends and lands just like a DC-9-30. Not the greatest climber but the wing root modification would have come out in the 717-300 series. Great automation. I have not had any significant issues but others have. Cockpit seat are passable at best. Sometimes a park bench would be more comfortable. Quiet and cold though. 737 sound like someone is running a vacuum in the background.

The 717 is a great bird, you SW guys are going to love her!

I commute on the 717 often. I gotta say, it seems sporty. The chick voice for the autopilot and stabilizer movement make me feel "at home" so to speak. She doesn't give you a to do list on overnights does she?

There's a video of her floating around on YouTube somewhere. No, it's not *THAT* kind of video, just never realized she was a real person 'til she did that video interview.

Vacuum cleaner for sure! I've been on the NG for 9 years, so when the wife walks in the room and asks to lower the volume on the t.v., I tell her I thought it was on mute. The 717 is defenitely easy on the ears.
