Can a 6'2" dude get in and out without leaving forensic evidence in the form of hair and skin stuck to the overhead panel?

What you mean busted down?

It's way easier to get in/out of than a 73 but much less reliable. A lot of nuisance alerts and minor no-dispatch issues.

Those planes belonged to Midwest then MexicanaClick and they filed for bankruptcy and went out of business. It is my understanding that Boeing has since moved those planes to the desert in California just sitting there waiting for a buyer..... SWA?

I've around 5K hrs in the 717. It's a great, highly automated airplane with very uncomfortable seats. Oh, it's also frequently busted down somewhere.

like software issues or parts broken?

717 is a great aircraft that can have some nuisance faults if ground power fluctuates, sending the trons in a tizzy. Flies, descends and lands just like a DC-9-30. Not the greatest climber but the wing root modification would have come out in the 717-300 series. Great automation. I have not had any significant issues but others have. Cockpit seat are passable at best. Sometimes a park bench would be more comfortable. Quiet and cold though. 737 sound like someone is running a vacuum in the background.

The 717 is a great bird, you SW guys are going to love her!

I commute on the 717 often. I gotta say, it seems sporty. The chick voice for the autopilot and stabilizer movement make me feel "at home" so to speak. She doesn't give you a to do list on overnights does she?

There's a video of her floating around on YouTube somewhere. No, it's not *THAT* kind of video, just never realized she was a real person 'til she did that video interview.

Vacuum cleaner for sure! I've been on the NG for 9 years, so when the wife walks in the room and asks to lower the volume on the t.v., I tell her I thought it was on mute. The 717 is defenitely easy on the ears.

Southwest will keep the 717. I was told they are in negotiations with Boeing regarding purchasing the two sims. I believe the the sims will be placed in sim position two and three as they need hydraulics. That will leave only one -300 sim. Position nine and ten will be NG sims.

When will the new holding company be formed? You know, like all those 1970's ALPA mergers? "Flying the Line Part III." All Airtran assets set up to "lose money" while Southwest "makes money?" In a couple of months Southwest aircraft at two gates in ATL to "augment" the fleet, witnessing a slow transfer of all expenses to the "lose money" company, including ditching an unpopular orphan fleet and its pilots?
