SkyWest bought ExpressJet in November. Prior to the acquisition, ExpressJet had frozen hiring because Continental was cutting its block hours. A few weeks ago, SkyWest received a new contract that will increase the number of block hours it flies for United and Continental by more than 20 percent, triggering a need for more employees. Kraupp didn’t know how many people will be hired

Does This timeline make sense?

9E buys Colgan to secure flying for Continental and buys Q400's
Colgan has Q Crash
9E does not exercise 15 Q400 options in Febuary...no buisness for them
9E buys Mesaba to secure crj900 flying for delta
9E buys Mesaba..the only other Saab airline out there to save US air contract Colgan had...Notice all colgan flying is now under the Mesaba certificate...or soon will be
9E completion factor totally sucks because of poor staffing issues...
9E signs new "very" expensive joint pilot contract with all three pilot groups
Delta soon after awards 12 more 170's to compass and 8 more 700's to ASA
Phil quits as head of 9E
9E soon after anounces 250 new hires and Mesaba recalls 169 furloughs
See above news story

Me thinks that 9E is screwed for any one of the above...
Why couln't he find work for the Q options that he had to forfet
what happens in 5 years when 141 200's contracts are up for Delta?

Looks like the new comair

Don't worry, there's already a thread how ASA is doomed. Now Pinnacle. Probably Air Wisconsin, Mesa, Eagle, PSA is next. Or whoever..... This is just how it goes. Lotsa nervous nelly's around. If all these airlines are doomed, there's nothing left. Well, December 2012 IS the end of the World after all. Put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye! I'm being sarcastical. Time to party cuz it's DOOM AND GLOOM!!

Wait, how did Mesaba's contract suck so bad before the merger, and now that we have basically the same thing with the merger it is so expensive it's going to sink the airline?

Its good to see some acknowledgement that 9E (the air operating certificate issued to Pinnacle Airlines, Inc) bought both Colgan and Mesaba.

Or he is in his fifties and wants to spend time with his family after taking a fleet of Saabs and growing it to what we are today or he has another job lined up. Why would the rest of his upper management team stay on if we were done?

Pinnacle cert didn't pay crap for Mesaba. It was a loan from Delta. Have you always been a ****? I don't remember your past posts from a couple years ago being such flamebate. Maybe I am wrong.

Also if the company was awarded Saab flying in lga and mesaba has the pilots plus the airline will be named mesaba by the end of the year, then why would you place those planes at colgan?

Maybe he was asked to leave because of his self induced under-staffing nightmares and all the other Pinnacle/Colgan inadequacies?

Good F-ing riddance.

Your giving him way to much credit. NWA was going to give 9E all those CRJ's irregardless of who the CEO was. It just happen to be him at the time, and that was the catalyst for everything that came afterward. Now, all the understaffing, penalties, lost opportunities, under-resourced training programs, 250 hour wonder pilots, and the general disaster that this company IS.... Yep, that is him for the most part.
