I just saw on Skywest Website they posted first officer opening on 03/16/11

i guess Fresno would be a new hires base and flying the emb120. is that the case. Heard no written or sim if prior 121 experience.

Hows commuting from Fresno, is it hard. Heard also first year montly take home is 1300/month and 11 days off on reserve. Ho How do you guys survive on that living in Cali. how long is reserve

Nobody survives well on first year pay without rich parents or a rich wife. You'll live on crackers and cheese for another couple of years just like while you flight instructed. Except now you'll move out of your parents basement and into an apartment with 7 other guys.

Oh... and you'll likely fly with some captain that asks why you don't iron your shirt every day. Just remember that guy is a clown.

I will never understand why the company is so in love with a huge Fresno base. Where are you commuting from? It seems like hiring will continue so you might not be on reserve long.

I lived with my mom on first year pay. Some people have had good luck camping.

Cheers,
Scott

Disgusting reality ain't it?

Well commute out of Oakland if not than out of SFO from fresno. What is there to do in Fresno, i heard its like a small village. if one stays with skywest does it get better later on after one year. I imagine there must be like 8-10 legs a day. I heard it is still like 4 or even 5 on and 2 off with 11 guarantee reserve. with all the hiring do you think the max on reserve would be 3-4 month before holding a line. how many lines for the 120 and how many FO in Fresno. I heard the ground school is in Salt Lake and the sim training on the 120 is in Fresno. And i was incorrect it wasn't 1300 but 1100 a month first year pay. Man you can get paid more at Mcdonalds as a cashier and home every night

First year pay is $22/hr. Guarantee is 60 hours ($1320) in training and 75 hours ($1650) on reserve. That's what is says on their website, anyway.

So still sucky, but pretty much all first year FO pay is. Rumor has it they're going to be hiring a lot, so getting in on the first part of it might mean short reserve time. Who knows...

What's wrong with ironing your shirt? It lends credibility to the hair gel and the back-pack really stands out against the crisp white back drop. it' also easier to distinguish the ipod wires when there aren't so many wrinkles.

Talked with an interview guy today in the training center. He said sometimes they make 121 guys fly the sim, no matter how bad/good they do. I guess they have had several 121 guys interviewing who started complaining/griping about how they thought they didnt have to do the sim. They were sent home immediately. Interview guys didn't care how good/bad they did, was just all about attitude.
