It's kind of like swinging through Sam's at about 5 o'clock to make a meal off all the free samples. We used to do it all the time in college. I wanted to write a book on how to never spend money on food while going to college, but nobody would believe you.

Think I didn't know every hotel in town that had a free spread available during happy hour for use on my days off? Think again.

Buy a Diet Coke, or if I felt rich that day, a PBR, and go to town on the baked potatoes or tacos, etc... Even had the veggies put out to get my vitamins.

Turns out back 20 years ago in the City I was based in, I made about $500 too much per year to qualify for food stamps.

If I had just one child at the time, I would have more than qualified.

Wonder what the Federal Poverty Line is today to qualify for Food Stamps? Not sure if it varies from City to City these days.

Anyway you slice it, whether you like the guy or hate him, I wish every American was required to see that Michael Moore flick that documented the Regional Airline first year pay (or for that matter, Continental's first year pay).

Truly sad, especially at the Union carriers. Obviously, the Pilot's working at them have the mindset of, "I did it, the new guys will have to do it as well." Or they would make the compromises to negotiate with their Managements a livable wage for their New Hire Pilots.

REAL First Class hasnt existed domestically for how long now - a decade at least?

The subway diet is a myth. For foot long, you eat enough bread to feed a family of 10 in Africa in one sitting, along with month old meat and canned vegetables. The 6 inch, you're hungry again in an hour.

No union is going to save your job when you get fired for THEFT. Sadly, that includes a 3-cent pack of pretzel mix.

You're much better off delaying the flight to MAKE SURE you're not even tempted to dip into "company property".

Excellent advise. And once they realize that you are delaying the flight to get lunch, they will "enhance" the flight crew with delicious "Crew Meals" full of sodium and sugar to keep you awake so that you can get those darn flights back on schedule.....

Reminds me of the old ACA CVG crew room. Once a month they would "clean" out the wheel o death snack machine and give the expired food to the crews. I've never seen a happier bunch of people.
