I have worn Deer Stags for about 5 years. They sell them at the Stopover Store, but I have also found them in regular shoe stores. They are around $50, and have usually lasted well over a year.

I'm on my 2nd pair of Eccos in 10 years (1st pair lasted 7 years!). Very comfortable, and durable. They have a fiberglass shank vice metal.

for thoes among us with wide feet like mine, these Dunhams (Dunham 410 from newbalance) are great. I'm on my second year with this first pair (I go thru a pair per year on other brands - Rockport or Deerstags or Florsheim). Airport friendly. I just ordered a new pair but think the first will last thru the winter until April.
