and possible civil suit?

By Mike Krumboltz – Sun Nov 14, 4:29 pm ET

Folks have been surrendering their dignity in the name of safe air travel for years. Most of the time, this happens without incident. But John Tyner, who was scheduled to fly from San Diego's Lindbergh Field to South Dakota for a hunting trip on Saturday, drew the line when he was asked to submit to either a full-body scan or a very personal pat-down.

As a consequence, he was threatened with a civil suit and a $10,000 fine if he left the airport's secured area. . . .

The good thing for him is that he can drive to his destination.

Love it. Found my new signature line. Stupid smurfs.

"You touch my junk and I'm going to have you arrested."

I think this guy planned it so he could be in news. He turns his video camera on before going through security and leaves it running the entire time. Then he post it all on Youtube.

that guy had the whole thing planned - pains me to say this but I have to side with the smurfs here.

On another note, WRT the hand patting in the "junk" area, just wait until smurf bends down to pat your leg in the rear and rip off a nice big fart right when their head level is at your waist height.

I got my first Dr. Ballbag Grabber inspection recently, loudly (in full uniform) said "watch it pervert" and then looked at a family coming through the security line and said "he's up in my shaft". Classic, thank you Hangover! Smurf was purple faced.

I don't know all the details,...but who's to say you can't just refuse the air transportation route, do a 180, and rent a car to South Dakota??? What am I missing here???

WOW!

It is so gawd awful that pilots are suggesting passengers rent a car ...

Not good.

Why? Maybe pilots are hoping their managements will exert their considerable political influence to help ditch this useless, ineffective, overly intrusive ABORTION of a screening plan? The bottom line is the only thing management respects.

The TSA's ridiculous, intrusive screening policies that do absolutely nothing to increase airline safety are providing increasingly more job security to corporate, charter & fractional pilots with this nonsense.

They're also the absolute best sales tool for people interested in learning to fly or buying their own GA airplane...

Who cares if he had it planned, in fact it is a good thing. The more this is in the news and the more the TSA is questioned about it the more they are likely to cave. Look at the guy that "intentionally" video'd the interview at ACORN. He did what no one had been able to do previously - shut them down. The more that the TSA is made to feel that they have stepped over a line the more likely they are to drop this goofiness.

Not a chance in hell will this go away. There is BIG money involved in this and the powers that be are determined to win out. Lots of cash has lined pockets on capital hill too. Isn't one on the board members of one of the scanning companies the former head of The Department of Fatherland Security?

They may cave in and let crews off the hook but Joe Six-pack and family better get used to being treated like criminals.

You don't get to throw an untruth out there and get away with it. You, along with the conservative media, need a history lesson. The ACORN video was edited where, at the end, the ACORN rep says "I'm just playing along with you guys; you're kidding, right"? Then, when the actors left, the ACORN rep called the police to tip them off about a possible illegal operation and an illegal immigration.

So a community group, established to help less privileged folks, was ******************** down and smeared by a lie, and by people like you who get their "news" from FOX, and don't bother to follow up with the real story.

Don't compare ACORN to TSA. TSA isn't helping any of us.

Yep. It sucks because I have to go through it going to work but it is job security...

But I'll be the first to applaud when they pull the plug on this stupidity.

Give me a break, you are defending an entity that has plead guilty to Voter Fraud (Nevada - felony conviction) and is facing additional prosecutions for the same crime. Those crimes have nothing to do with the Videos but the videos brought to light the criminal nature of the organization. Keep living the dream that it existed to "help the little guy" - the truth is much different than your constructed reality.

Alright.. this is getting political and about here... what started out to be aviation related... lets get this thread back on the aviation side.. otherwise we can move it to non- av section.. lets not go into politics..

Mod.. clr4

Then you should probably move the thread because the nature of the issue, ie: violation of American citizens rights, failure of government "leaders" to effectively defend this country, etc. is inherently political.

ok... I think it is an important topic, but it applies to all of aviation.. I'll move it to general aviation topics..

but please lets not degrade this to a non-aviation thread.. keep it on topic..

Fair enough, everyone should be making as big a deal about this as possible to put the TSA in check. The fact that Napolitano had to do a press conference today is proof of the pressure they are feeling. Also, did anyone else catch her downplaying the complaints from APA and USAPA - she essentially said "pilots are only concerned because of the health issues." What a load of carp.

A sure way to change or get rid of the TSA will come when the public stop flying and start driving or taking other modes of transportation..

worse, businesses drastically increase the "go to meeting" type of electronic tools to do business that would have been done in person..
