USAir east still has value and will get picked off. East coast presence, Europe Carribean. Not so sure anyone needs PHX

Can I have an AMEN to that!!!

Yes, USAir will "merge" all right, the east to a major- PHX to Republic. Enjoy your relative seniority boyz!

It's funny how you keep repeating this as if it's a negative thing. May it be so; I've no doubt we'll get the better end of that deal.

If that's how an arbitrator rules then so be it. We actually have the integrity to abide by binding arbitration. In fact, it looks like the Easties are the only pilot group lacking that integrity. Boast a little more about that, why don't you.

Can't you just hear the East pilots if they were to merge with American, "I was hired by Piedmont in 1982 and that gives me the right to be Number 200 on the B777!".

And how many triple 7's would that 82 hire be flying with a 5 year fence?

Only the biggest IDIOT CEO in the world would want to merge with or buy the Rosemary's Baby of the airline industry. Oh, wait a tick, we ARE talking about airline execs here. Proceed!

AA has had, what, some 20 years of labor strife. C'mon, there's gotta be some compatibility there. Whenever I hear my colleagues complaining about how bad things are over here I tell them at least we're not at AA. (and yes, I still have an AA seniority number)
So you got punked by ALPA when AA bought TWA, then AA punked you so you sought employment at AWA, then you thought your salivation (pun intended) had arrived when Nic finally made up for all the mistakes ALPA made. Its a terrible shame that ALPA couldn't get things right the first time.

Which one is rosemary's baby? US Air making money or AA still bleeding cash.

They could always try to snag ALK and become more attractive to the bigger fish. Hopefully for ALK that doesn't happen.

Sweet mother of god let's hope not. Wouldn't surprise me at all though. Seems as though Delta would step in and take alaska if that were to happen though. But who knows anymore. I could see usairways trying to buy american. Barely seems more ludicrous than them trying to buy delta for $10billion like they tried a few years ago. All I know is the possible scenarios are running out with AS, HAL, Jetblue and lcc all that is left to be merged.

Please. USAirways is the worst abortion in the history of the industry. I remember flying Cactus in Phoenix the day the buyout was announced and asking the gate agent what Parker was smoking. He ruined a perfectly good airline when he bought out the most dysfunctional airline in U.S. history. Ask ANY road warrior airline passenger what the WORST airline in the country is and the answer is the same: USAir.
