General,

I realize you have a desire to reach 20,000 posts this year or maybe its beacuse you like to rub the little guy while you type airport identifers of cities your airline does not serve. Whatever your motivation - I only ask that you gather your thoughts before you type 3-5 posts of just total BS.

You provide no value to this board.

You make the cool Delta guys, (the former NWA guys) look bad for having you on the property.

Perfect ending to this Thread....

What are you guys afraid of? Lee has some good points that you can't refute. Not everyone wants less variety or options when it comes to flying. We all want a payraise, but I want something more to look forward to when going to work, like going somewhere exotic. Southwest just doesn't offer that compared to others. Good pay isn't the only criteria for a happy life. And, Wsurf, you need to work on just leaving your own time zone. When you take a leap to do that, then you can join in here.

No, I don't have to work the max because my wife works also. We have a "dual income" marriage. I do like making extra money now and then, but I don't really have to. I fly to INTL places because I got bored doing all domestic. There was a while there when I was going to St Thomas a lot on day turns, and ANC layovers in the Summer, but I now can do both if I want becuase our category now has both domestic and INTL flying. But, I am senior enough to bid what I want, which is great.

And you keep talking about RJs eating up the flying. Maybe you haven't noticed lately, but RJs are being parked at a huge rate. Mainline flying has recaptured a lot of that flying, which was given away by the unions initially, but then exacerbated by certain airline President's who thought businessmen wanted "frequency." That era is over, and thanks to the CAL/UAL MECs bringing up the eventual recapture of 70 seats and up for their new joint contract, even more RJ flying will go away hopefully.

It's great that you can choose EAST or WEST flying for your trips. Will you do that in 5 years? How about 10 years? Will you even care anymore? That is the sad part. There is something special about walking up to a gate and seeing that your airplane is going somewhere farther than your 1 or 2 time zones, and you are getting paid to do it. Hey, it's not your fault that you don't understand that. You are just unfamiliar with the concept of eating first class meals, taking a rest break or watching a movie in the back, and then ending up in a far away land that can be fun. You suggest Africa as a common location---yet that is done by junior pilots that have the option to bid something else, but they do not. That is their choice. Most INTL flying is great, and it beats the domesstic lifestyle by a mile. And I think you stated legacy domestic flying is worse than your domestic flying? It depends on the plane, again. Some planes are built for longer legs, and might fly 2 or 3 legs per day, mainly transcons. Some fly multiple legs. Your planes do both, but not one or the other. You may fly a long leg from BWI to SLC, where most pilots would get off if based there after the 5 hour flight. Your plane continues onto LAS, then SJC. It's called very productive trips, but exhausting. Many pilots flew exhausted in the Regionals, and now want less frequency in their legs, and longer legs at that. Southwest probably can't guarantee that.

Again, it is apples to oranges when comparing our flying----you just can't compare it. Now, payscales, they will come and go, but airline products and game plans just won't change. You fly for a domestic LCC, and I fly for a Worldwide Legacy. Apples to oranges. And BTW, Volaris may do well in Mexico thanks to Mexicana going away. That means they may become a stronger partner of yours, and maybe handle almost all of your future Mexico flights. They aren't as weak as you may think thanks to Mexicana leaving the picture.

Bye Bye---General Lee

Just commuted to MCO from NY with a Delta guy who had just came in from London. Dude looked like crap after flying all night. Drooling, snoring, disheveled, red eyes. Pretty funny Sh!t if you ask me.

Oh yeah he looked like he loved the Europe flying. I think I heard him call out for his mommy at one point. Dude didnt even wake up after the landing. Where can I sign up for that?! General. WTF are you doing with 14000 + posts? Is that what you do in fancy and exotic Europe, Log into Flight info. You have got to be the biggest loser tool on this site. Im convinced you spend half your days on this site reading every damn post thinking of an opportunity to tell us we go to ELP and ISP a lot.

I can see it. You're the guy in London with the fanny pack, and black dress socks with your tennis shoes trying to convince yourself that you are all of a sudden suave and sophisticated because you're there. Ill be the first to wager that you don't leave the hotels except to go to McDonalds where you score a Mc Royal (metric system cant say quarter pounder) and then sit there eating by yourself absolutely assuring yourself that you are not the biggest wrench in the joint and that somehow you have it better than me because Im in LBB.

Oh yes you will meet others like you, because that's where the fanny pack crowd congregate in Europe. Then you go back to your room, fire up the old laptop and get on Flightinfo and begin to "catch up" with the latest and greatest on the site, then cut and paste your "variety" BS on every link that pertains to Southwest.

My friend 14000+ posts on FI doesnt make you a renegade of some sort for Delta, rather it reveals a lonely and pathetic man who's courage behind the keyboard is the only courage he has. So slow down on the posts, slip the old lady the 3 incher every once in a while and live life to the fullest. Whether its in Amarillo or on the Spanish steps, its means nothing if you are miserable and lonely.

You have 14200 posts. That and 2 bucks gets you another fanny pack. Now you'll post a response telling me to enjoy ELP and ISP, but you know what , thats your MO. It empowers you in some way and you reach 14201 posts and you pat yourself on the shoulder and tell yourself your good enough, smart enough and doggone it people like you. I can tell you that they probably don't. They tolerate you. That's a big difference.

The guy from London could have been sick. Do you really think every international pilot feels that way ? One of my Southwest buddies now questions why he left Continental for Southwest since he sees a lot of legs in his future with not a lot of variety. He told me to think it through before rushing into applying to Southwest, which I doubt I will do now. I want the option to do different types of flying. And btw, who the heck are you? A lot of us like General Lee and enjoy his banter and enthusiasm. You know he is right about Southwest, it is a domestic only 737 operator that has productive trips. Not everyone wants that. He is right, and you aren't.

Like GL, why do you also have this compulsion to hang out on SWA threads and repeatedly tell everyone how much you don't want to work for SWA?

Annnndddd, fade to black...

Thank you for coming, please tip your waitress. Drive safe everyone, have a good night, Ciao!

Nope. Guy from London trip was miserable because he was up all night. Told me himself :) And dude. trust me when I tell you, The General is a class A loser. You need some rest my friend. FYI, its Sunday in case you need to get your circadian rhythm back on track

You have C17 in your profile, so I assume you did it for the Military? So, you really have no experience flying international for an airline, right? You have been to some scary places probably, and think that is what it is like at an airline? I just don't think so. Did you wear that green jumpsuit out on the town too in Paris and Rome to get the chicks? Why don't you be more vague when making a comment like yours above? Well, WSurf fell for it, hook, line, and sinker. (and he is a guy who doesn't leave a time zone)

I dont even know where to start with this idiotic post of yours. You are an E145 driver who thinks 2 hours in the air is a ballbuster. You don't know squat about me or about international flying. You also seem to have green bag envy. How gay. Anyway, I think I got the international thing down pretty well and I don't like it much. I dont like staring at the ocean for hours on end and I don't like hopping timezones. I also dont like being away from my family for long stretches. As I said before you went and ran your man-pleaser, to each their own. Do what you like.

All the same reason's my Dads bud left the 777 for the 80. Ever notice the Lufthansa's Internation Crews??? Young as hell aren't they? Senior guys dont wanna have anything to do with International flying. They are happy being home and just domestic jumping around europe.

But like it was stated. To each his own.

Hey 72...great post.

I think its safe to say international flying is harder on the body then flying at Southwest, unless you get to go to a room party, then maybe its equal. Gotta love west Texas woman!!!!
