They were in all the trade magazines being cheered for their rapid expansion last year.

And then they blame labor for the problems.......none of us are safe when private capital gets involved. Wall Street comes to mind. Good luck to them.

This could hurt us all if they take Republic wages just to keep the doors open.

Wanna bet Emirates and Qatar Airways will set up recruiting shops in Mexico City for the Airbus pilots tomorrow?

Buenos Suerte to them all!!!!!!!!!!!

Who gets the 717's.....?
I am sure Airtran would be interested in some more 717s at the right price. AirTran is already taking 2 more leased 717s next February (on 10 year leases). The 717 is proving to be the right sized airplane for all the mid-sized cities in the midwest part of the country that Airtran has been focusing on recently (like MKE and IND).

Gotta laugh at how Aeromexico ownership is partially with Banamex which is a subsidiary of Citibank which of course all us humble US tax payers own a little piece of. Thank the all mighty for giving us such masters of high finance.

Aeromexico OK, it's Mexicana that's on the ropes......

I think it's Volaris and others that have put a real dent in their network....

I understand that, I'm just find it humorous that in a way all us humble taxpayers own a piece of Aeromexico. Banamex is actually one of Citi's better assets.

Best of luck to all the Mexicana Pilots, employees and their families. I hate to see anyone lose their job.

Unless you benefit from it. How about all those furloughed right in your backyard who lost their jobs because of your age 65 support.

Your sincerity is touching.

What makes you think that I personally supported the age 65 change ?

When SWAPA put this out for a vote among the membership, I don't recall you sitting with me at the kitchen table as I marked my ballot.

Besides, why do you mention furloughs ? We don't have anyone furloughed here at SWA.

I like how Carlos Slim (the richest man in the World, ahead of Bill Gates) just sold his stake in Voalris (a Mexican LCC) a month ago, before all this happened. I would think Volaris now has the opportunity to get HUGE in Mexico, and Slim could have made even MORE money had he held on to his stake. Ooooops. Even very rich smart people aren't lucky sometimes.

Bye Bye--General Lee
