I think the revealed truth here is that you'd be more content working all day, every day with no travel responsibilities. A bizarre choice in vocation, really, as the "reality" of QOL in having a more ordinary job is functionally illusionary.

The cabinet maker is railing against you SL types because he sees you as suckers for not bailing into a more traditional line of work. He regards Avant compensation to be sub-par. While this is certainly true, it isn't bad either given the decent schedule.

My case is simply that the cabinet maker hasn't one.
