Next time he wants to come up, tell him you're busy. I'm sure you'd get a warm reception if you just stopped by his office. He is a smug, condescending, prick who would like nothing more than to throw you out in the street and hire someone for half your pay.

We need to stop letting him spread his bulls**t by letting him know he is NOT welcome on the flight deck. Ever.

Exactly... If you happened to be strolling around downtown Houston, say somewhere around Smith Street, do you think if you felt like stopping by his office for 20 minutes to promote your ideas on what you think you're "worth" that he'd give you the time of day. Of course not! And so having him stop by your office (i.e. the cockpit) 20 minutes before departure so that he can spread his lies and pretend that he has your best interests in mind shouldn't be allowed to happen either. The cockpit is your place of business, not his. Respectfully tell him to take a seat in the back with everyone else so that you can get your job safely and keep things running on-time.

Bottom line: never ever give away scope - you can never get it back... The Delta pilots learned the hard way and you can avoid their mistake. You can always renegotiate salary down the road but scope is FOREVER...

I don't ever recall anyone in the Union saying no to 70 jets on the mainline CAL pay rates. When was it even offered?

HOLD THE LINE. NO MORE OUTSOURCING!!!!!!!!!

I don't like playing games. If he wants to talk, I'm not going to pass up the opportunity to ask him my questions. In the long run we are all on the same team. We ALL want to make money. The guy is just trying to do his job-keep the payroll low to maximize profit. Our job is to get what we are worth. We will see who comes out closer to their goal. My opinion, I like our chances.

If you read the book Confessions of a Union Buster you will know exactly why he wants to come up there.

Then by that logic the 777 should pay the same as well. Look, would you rather have those planes go to an express carrier flying our routes or to the main line which would require hiring and movement? Me, I'd take the latter.

The 777 is classified as a widebody, I don't get your point. We have three classes of airplanes, they are welcome to buy 70 seaters and put them in any class they like. If they want to buy them, as far as our contract is concerned, they will be a small narrowbody UNLESS another rate is negotiated. I was one of the guys who told anyone who would listen that the 50 seat RJ's were going to f**k us fifteen years ago, if they don't want us to fly the 70 seater, they can shove them up their a**.

I know, I know to spread disunity within the pilot group. If you been in this industry awhile you can smell the bull from a mile away. I'm former ATA, and I've seen my share of BS. Like I said, I don't trust him a bit, but I will listen to what he has to say. That doesn't mean I buy into it.

My point was that you want to classify a RJ as the same as the 737. Using that logic you could classify the 737 as an widebody. I'm just saying pay us a going rate for the airplane (the RJ) to get them on our ticket. No scope problem there. I think we both agree that they can't screw us if we are flying them. We had an Express guy on the jumpseat during that flight and he said that they don't want them either. Why? Because they would be stuck at the regional level that much longer. Smart guy there.

EWR FO -- Last I checked it's his airline not yours. He's the boss, like it our not, we aren't. If he wants to come up to the flight deck, it's his perogative, how you handle it is yours. I don't know of any industry where the boss is prohibited from checking on his employees...bs or not, but saying he is NEVER welcome on the flight deck is a missed opportunity to filter the BS. Are you scared that he might convince you or us of something? Come on....
