Maybe there's a way to contact the company to find out exactly what the requirements are in relation to hourly flight time requirements.
 
This is NOT a dirtbag operation....unless you at Executive, then I would agree. We run a safe operation , no fatigue hassles , very professional and experienced crews and are afforded same travel as AA. In terms of pay , you know what to expect at Eagle but that doesnt compare to CAL first year pay...$33,000. There are other places alot worse than Eagle........

For me , I'm based in my hometown , no commuting and making good cash. Newhires , do your homework so you know what your getting into.

What is your idea of " Good Cash"?
Not flame , just don't know what the take home is.

Well , I'm a ERJ captain doing well over 100g.......FO's can make more than they think with OT. We have FO's doing 40-50g with OT. Newhires are going to have to put in the time but its not easy with being on reserve and commuting if you choose to do it. We are waiting on word to see if our 250 flowthrus will be forced to AA. If that's the case, we'll have alot of movement in addition to the 22 NEW CRJ's coming .....

"well over 100g" huh? right. FOs making $40k... Well maybe as your FOs don't upgrade for 10+ years. Your junior CA upgraded 10 years ago. FOs top out at 8 years. Look at all that movement at Eagle!

OCP, YOU dont work here, so how would you know? The pay info is REAL......upgrade ..no secret but down to 9.5........Movement ? Nowhere JUST like everywhere else.....But there are people looking for jobs and we have them ....its there choice right?

With the furloughs just coming back I would hope no one was flying overtime. Especially FO's.

Everyone who wants to come back has been called. Recruitment department is being put together as we speak. Dont know about mins but I'm sure they will pick hightimers first.....
 
I think you misunderstood me. I was referring to payscales making it a crappy job for newhires.

but, if they are starting at 100k for newhires then i stand corrected, great place to work.

THIS IS NOT A RUMOR.....just recieved word through employee emails. There are looking for a Mgr of Recruitment now and getting the department off the ground. It is going to take a little time to get things going again.

We are severly shortstaffed, record number of cancellations due to lack of crews and fatigue calls over the holidays.....
 
For what its worth, I interviewed with Eagle back in 04 and was offered the job, but I wasn't willing to move to San Juan, I really just wanted to do the American Eagle interview. Around that same time I also interviewed with a few other carriers and I must say that Eagle still stands out in my mind as being the best of all of them, also they were the most professional by far.

If you want to work for a great regional and are willing to sit right seat for awhile, I say go for it.

Also, I wonder if their still using the B707 sim for interviews? That was cool flying that thing.

I understand your view on SanJuan......I did 2 "combat tours" in SanJuan '98-'01 and had a blast....a new job, HOT PR girls,the beach and a crash pad with training buds....things have changed and I wouldn't go now. But newbies could be getting jets and staying stateside.
 
Beggar's can't be choosers in this job market. Come stay for a while and if others start hiring with more movement, take a look. Our schedules, and workrules, seem to be in line with the other regionals, from others I know who work elsewhere. It ain't the most glorious job out there, but it beats being unemployed I guess, depending on your circumstances. No one will ever be pleased in the business.

They switched to the F100, then I think it went to a Saab most recently. I could be wrong
 
Eagle is a good place to work and very experienced crews.

I would bet the minimum flight time requirements will be no where near what they were when they stopped hiring. 1500/500 is a good guess in this job market.
 
If you're an unemployed pilot, it doesn't hurt to apply to American Eagle and see what happens. Ultimately, the decision is yours. The best of luck.
 
I left Eagle for Mesaba for a Street Captain position and it was the worst decision. Eagle was a great company when I was there. Yes the upgrade is long but there are so many things that offset that. I'd love to be able to proffer for reserve again or at least have access to information on sabre. Mesaba is in the stone ages. I'd almost consider going back.

Can you enlighten us what it would be like for a newhire at Eagle? From this thread I understand that there would be no upgrade for 9.5 years. That is a downside. What is the upside? If your airline is looking for good people with over 1500 hours or whatever the minimums turn out to be you should try and sell the culture or at least prepare the uninformed. Let people know what they are getting into. Living in a crash pad in PR? Whats that like? Living on a first year FO wage? Whats that like? Using the AA free travel privileges? Whats that like?

I'm not sure what your airline is looking for in terms of minimums but I'm guessing you'll be hiring guys with time. If your airline will take whats crawling off the unemployment like well that is nice for the unemployed. If your airline is trying to hire people that are employed and have a lot of flight time then you should try and let us know what life is like at Eagle and why we should go there.

I'm trying to turn the thread around from lets bash Eagle because they are hiring. It is great someone is hiring. We should all be thrilled that we are seeing some kind of hiring. It sure beats those Obama death camps everyone was worried about last year.

I have a friend at Skywest that tried to find greener pastures, he's now stuck in a E120 as an FO and wishes he never left Eagle.
