I understand VA held interviews last week. Anyone have info on how many more interview sessions will be held and how many pilots will be hired?

3 more sessions this year. No numbers on hiring until DOT report and fleet plans are determined.

I assume they are mostly interviewing guys with the Airbus type...lord knows there are enough guys on the street with one.

A320 type not required, and you will go through a full initial A320 class even if you have one. About 60 interviews scheduled out of about 4K qualified applicants, so I would assume an internal recommendation would help just a little. Good luck!

I've read somewhere that they're getting 5-6 more airplanes but as many as 10. So, deducing from that, anywhere from 60 to 120 pilots?? Just guessing.

I have four. No luck here. No Bus experience. Haven't flown since April, though. Could be a factor.

My guess would be Jan. Not very many training dpts want to be doing training through the Holidays. Good Luck! ;-)

Do you have a someone on the inside to give you a rec.?
Even if you do the competition is fierce. I have heard of some with four recs. and no call while others have one rec. and get the call.

I did just hear from a VA pilot friend of mine that there is a class of 4 starting sometime in Dec. 4 pilots were hired from 2 interview sessions in the past few weeks.

Just curious---
Is the 'online assessment' when you have to provide letters of rec? I just got that 'invite' yesterday. Not sure if that is the first 'who you know' hurdle, and then the interview is an even playing field. Please let me know if anyone could enlighten me. (btw- I don't know anyone there).

Also- for those who interviewed; did they fly you there/back, or is that on you? thx ..

The assesment is the first step in the hiring process. It means you are one of the ones they are interested in. The rest is up to you. Good luck!
