United cuts 50-seat Mesa CRJs
Tuesday November 10, 2009
ATW news:

United Airlines ended its agreement with Mesa Air Group for operation of 26 50-seat CRJs on its behalf, with the aircraft to be phased out by April 30.

The move follows UA's decision last week to terminate the agreement under which Mesa operates 10 Dash 8s as United Express (ATWOnline, Nov. 3). Mesa Chairman and CEO Jonathan Ornstein told ATWOnline that MAG will continue to operate 20 CRJ700s for UA, primarily out of Chicago O'Hare and Washington Dulles, and that the agreement could be extended to include an additional 10 CRJ700s.

He noted that the CRJ100/200 termination could be a sign of things to come in light of rising fuel prices. "In the current economic environment, to a large degree they [50-seat RJs] are not economically feasible," he said.

Mesa currently operates 136 aircraft with approximately 800 daily departures. In addition to United it flies for US Airways and Delta Air Lines and independently as Mesa Airlines and go! in Hawaii.

YA THINK?????????

How many large CRJs did Delturd add this year?

Large RJs? Good question. We did park 100 50 seaters already, with another 100 on the chopping block in the next 2-3 years according to our CEO RA. (along with all the props) I think we are losing more RJs than we are adding, which is a great thing, eh????? And this quote by JO is the nail in the coffin for 50 seaters. Do you fly CRJs? Not for long pal. And these new rest rules will kill your side of the industry too. Have fun with that turd brain. Back to Empty Nipple and instructing in C172s for you.

United added 13 CRJ 200's to their operation ala Skywest (ASA).

Another winning strategy for United. Did SkyWest buy that right? Did they loan UAL money for that opportunity? Great investment. Heck, they have to put the CRJs somewhere. Look what SkyWest did for Airtran Connect out of MKE. I bet they gave them to Airtran for no money down, no interest, no nothing. "Just pay the lease payment and we are GOOD."

Aren't you in your mid to late 40's?

In mind or body? I feel like I am 27, but yes, I am in my mid to lower 40s. Thanks for reminding me!

Haha, you'll be retired by the time I'm in your shoes, or you'll be out of this business for 20+ years by the time I hit 65... if I make it!

Good come back though with the turd brain. I hope the CRJs go away. You Delta guys put that genie back in it's bottle, and hopefully you've learned your lesson.

I feel like I'm 9 years old.
