It would be interesting to find out how many people actually apply for that job. Guam is a long way out there, 7 1/2 to 8 hours past HNL. These jobs don't come open often either. I think the last opening was early 2006, and there was one in Dec 2005, both filled internally. Before that the last job opening was in August of 2001.

FYI, Continental Micronesia is a wholly owned subsidiary of Continental Airlines with its own operating certificate. The airplanes are dry-leased from CO, at least on paper. CO also has a 737 flight crew base on GUM. Most of the other employees such as res, customer service, maintenance and dispatch are local hires. Dispatchers are paid under the CO pay scale, but are not part of the union. Unless they have changed the policy, you can not move from GUM dispatch to CO IAH dispatch w/o going to the bottom of the pay scale, so once on Guam you might be locked in.

I unfortunately have some financial obligations here that would preclude me from taking advantage of the opportunity. Does anyone want to buy a slightly used Jeep Wrangler?

The Middle East does wear on one after awhile and the Western Pacific seems like a cool place to be.

do it!!!!

No credit check right? Just leave it at the airport and run like hell!

HJD, That made me laugh!! There a lot of dusty cars in the airport parking lot here. However, it is always an option, I retain posession of my passport and no one here knows my SSN. It's called "doing a runner". I am not at that point yet.....
