This could be good news for our furloughs. Hopefully we will see them all back in Spring 2010.

Continental sees fuller jets, 2010 capacity growth

By Christopher Hinton CAL

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Continental Airlines (CAL 15.72, -0.20, -1.26%) said Wednesday it expects to increase its year-over-year total seat capacity by 1.5% to 2.5% in 2010, driven by its international routes. Mainline capacity is set to grow by 2% to 3%, the carrier said, with its domestic capacity flat. International mainline capacity is set to grow by 5% to 6%. For the fourth quarter, Continental forecast fuller planes, with both mainline and consolidated load factors increasing by about 2.9 points versus last year. Fourth-quarter mainline capacity is expected to come down by 0.7%, and 0.8% on a consolidated basis. Continental said it expects to end 2009 with $2.4 billion in cash. Shares of Continental slipped less than 1% to $15.79.

Yep, that's because there will be more Colgan Dash 8-400s to cover any domestic flying increases... nice.

Bingo!!! More 'happy' high yield biz passengers getting fed into hubs by an unreliable POS bottom feeder!

2 777
4 757 300
7 737 NGs (800 or 900 or 900ER?)

This is off the top of my head, but I think the info is correct. But I know the 737-300s will all be gone in January. ... Still a capacity increase.

Yeah, not bad. Hopefully all the furloughs (hostages) will be back this spring.

by then oil will be at $147 a barrel and we (the bottom 500) will get the same letter we got in aug 07, and then again in aug 08.

I got you babe.

Ok so I am getting bitter.

Good news or negotiations physiological warfare?

Any growth at CAL will first produce 89 hour lines and ton of junior manning with barely legal reserves for a couple of years, maybe then recalls.

Please tell me I am wrong..

Agreed.
The Furlough LOA allowed that the mitigation provisions would go away simply following a system bid that has shown the furloughs back on paper only. It does not require them to actually be back on property. And anyone at CAL knows that a system bid in the spring can be easily negated by the fall system bid.

The mitigation provisions "could" go away following a system bid that shows the furloughs back on paper, not "would." Once a system bid is awarded showing no furloughs, people can come back on a VOLUNTEER basis. The company can not FORCE anyone on LTVRF or COLA to come back early. I don't believe that you'll see any of this occur before April 2010 anyway (which is when LTVRF/COLA 10 ends), so its kind of a moot point. If it had though, I, for one, would have not come back early unless all of the furloughed pilots had been recalled, trained, and were online.
