Good luck taxiing that 737 without dropping a main in the grass when turning in and out of the ramp along with the narrow taxiways.What about the wing span that could take out a tail on a GA plane sitting there?..Just curious!!
I thought the same thing until your post made me curious enough to look at the numbers. On our CRJ700, the distance from the nose wheel to the mains is 50' 3", while on the 737-700, the distance is only 41' 4". This allows the CRJ to complete a 180 degree turn on a 75' taxiway, while the 737 can do a 180 on a 65' taxiway.

As far as basic dimensions, the 737 is only 4' longer than the CRJ700, but it's wingspan is 41' wider. (Not that you would want to, but you could probably taxi the 737's wingtips above most GA aircraft). So it appears that the 73' would not have any problem.

As a side note, it is interesting to note that the CRJ900 is actually 8 1/2 feet longer than the 737!
 
The 900 is also only 15 feet shorter than the MD-88. It is a big airplane.

Hence the terms classic(200), stretch(700), heavy(900).
