Who isn't, with all the guys who couldn't "take that paycut" for a year to move on in life 20+ years ago.

Don't forget the 5 year furlough either. You're right, from now on we need to assign the best schedules starting with the most Jr. up. Now, GFY :D.

Troj....It's one thing to claim the seniority stuff until you are talking about people that have been line holders for 2 years or more, then taking it the shorts in one short month. We all get the seniority thing, but the line drop was drastic. Enjoy your line and your high line value. I sleep well knowing the senior guys enjoy such great schedule flexibility. Anything I can do to help.

Why did you upgrade 79%? The line drop was a result of a bunch of people whining about red arrow days. When you hold a line (which shouldn't be too far into the future hopefully), how would you feel if those that are coming up felt they should have more time off, or better yet, "share" in their reserve?

I will enjoy my line. I've put my time in. You will too. Sorry you have to sit reserve, that sucks. I remembering duking it out a few years ago with a dude on the ALPA Board who upgraded and didn't want to sit reserve. He decided it would be great for lineholders to "share the pain." Sorry, I won't do that. You won't either in a couple of months.

I can't help feeling like we were mislead by management that we needed downgrades and furloughs. We are still doing over 800 flights a day (a normal summer schedule) and now we're increasing that in the next few months. Just because we had 1000 flights a day in the summer doesn't mean we are below average on our number of flights now. I just don't see a drastic cut from years past. Maybe someone has some hard data.

I had a feeling we would do all this downsizing for a slow winter, then Delta would go ahead and change their mind and ramp up the flying. Looks like come November we'll be in Summer 09 Madness mode again. At least we'll have a lil more variety of flying besides in and out of ATL all day.

This is the normal seasonal slow down to ramp up. Block hours always take to dive in Sept and Oct to then ramp up for the holidays. It will then fall again until spring break. The furloughs IMHO are there until adv ticket sales pick up and DL decides what/if any more cuts are needed. We will run lean until this happens or we can get more flying from another carrier ie growth. It would not make any sense to call back our furloughs for two months to then furlough them again.

Why did I upgrade??? I upgraded over 2 1/2 years ago, and did my share of expected time on reserve. This massive drop in lines to appease some of those who demand their right to swap/drop trips is a punishment to many who are the hostages in this battle. I don't find that a fair way to solve the problem. Does your seniority insulate you from that? Sure. Like I said, I'm not argueing the warrants of the seniority system with you. I am disagreeing that this was the proper way to "fix" the red arrow days.

Hopefully we will see this change, but according to SH's newest message, the reserves will increase again for Nov to account for the H1N1 flu! Great!!

I'm with you T and you know it. After a year of holding a line and getting pushed backwards 40 numbers due to cry babies on the Freeze List after the -900 frames were announced, I too am now back on reserve.

My curiousity question is simple and I'm surprised no one has brought it up yet. Who exactly is losing (I didn't say "loosing" :D) their flying that we are gaining? Is Mesa finally going, going, gone? Is Comair losing (HA! did it again!) a bunch of flying again? Is it a combination? Does it matter?

Is this your first winter here, seriously, lose the hard-on. Its cyclical. Block hours dive during sept/oct then guess what, the holidays come around. I'll bet SH puts out an e-mail in dec stating block hours will decrease for jan/feb then start to increase in the spring through summer. Even Ms. Cleo could have seen this coming. We're still down overall take it in stride man.
