Interesting theory.

The more JetBlue pilots sign the retainer the more UAL furloughs UAL pilots.

United Airlines furloughs 290 pilots

United Airlines furloughs 290 pilots, part of previously announced plans to cut work force
  • On Tuesday September 22, 2009, 3:41 pm EDT
CHICAGO (AP) -- United Airlines has furloughed another 290 pilots, part of previously announced plans to shrink its work force.
United has said it aims to shrink its work force by 7,000. It has been making periodic furloughs and, in some cases, layoffs to move toward that goal.

The new furloughs bring the total number of United pilots out of work to 1,164, according to the United branch of the Air Line Pilots Association.
In a hot line message, union spokesman and pilot Joe Doniach blamed the furloughs on "United management's inability to properly run an airline." He said the union would be working to restore all the furloughed pilots to United cockpits.

The union said it has about 6,400 remaining active pilots at United.
Like other carriers, United has been reducing the amount of flying it does to try to match less demand. United traffic and capacity have both fallen 9.2 percent this year through August compared with the same period last year.

On Tuesday, the Transportation Department reported that employment at the big airlines fell 7.1 percent in July compared with the previous year.
Among those carriers, the biggest drop was at Northwest, where employment fell 12.5 percent, as its new owner Delta Air Lines Inc. integrated it. United's work force shrank 11 percent according to the government's calculations, while American's work force shrank 6.9 percent. Alaska Airlines shrank 6 percent. Delta and US Airways Group Inc. were both down 4.4 percent and Continental shrank 4 percent.
Shares of United parent UAL Corp. fell 36 cents, or 3.8 percent, to $9.04 in afternoon trading.

Blue Bayou,

I remember you never answered my question on an earlier thread. Are you or have you ever been a member of the Band of Blue?

Seriously Blew by you, what has that got to do with absolutely anything? Should we all ignore our contracts and quiver in fear that the airline that doesn't furlough might furlough? Should we capitulate before any discussion has even begun so that the ones that say a no-furlough clause "has value" can refrain from engaging their vaunted values? Shall we all succumb to revised intent, except for the part where we all intended to improve our lives, our livelihoods, and our careers? Perhaps you need to revisit from whence you came, and see what Sally or Howard would say.

His brother and him are both Bob's. Next time your in the MCO base stop by, they just love shinning your shoe's.......

Bluepilots down for 3 days now, it is obvious who is in control of the message board.

I called and talked to Robert at LLBL and he said the 22nd deadline was a bad rumor. They are still taking signed consent forms. I think you still have time even after the 22nd if you want to join.

Banger,

Can you post Robert's number, or PM me with it please?

Thanks

Blue Bayou,

I'm curious, how do you feel about Russ Chew's 12k/month housing allowance and the golden parachute he took after being here a short time? Was he even here 16 months?

Do you really think you will NEVER be furloughed from JB or XYZ airline?

One thing's for sure: the lemmings will continue to be lemmings.

I think an appropriate question for LLBL to ask in discovery will be if jetBlue has any control/access to bluepilots.com and what they know about it. I hope that they are not caught trying to say that is "great pushback."

Well, maybe some of us have lives to live instead of bantering the next guy on F/I or Bluepilots all day. I consider family time, community service and church to be more valuable to me than time spent in these forums...

As for being a Band of Blue member, yes I was a proud member. Seemingly you seem to think I had the personal influence in over 1000 pilots voting "no" for JBPA, while not giving credit to those who chose to remain unique and union free for the time being...

Looking at your ratings, you never served your country in the military. I had the special opportunity to do so and defended the rights of those with an opinion in this free country of ours. Last I checked, we still have that right. The same right that allowed flag burners to burn and protesters to protest in the streets of NYC after 9/11 about our involvement in Afghanistan-- with the smoldering ruins of the WTC behind them. So, instead of dragging me out back and shooting me for my choice in free speech, how about just respecting me for having an opinion. Maybe if you Bluebanters had that going for you, the voting might have had a different outcome...
